Union Dale Churches Begin New Venture

Union Dale Churches Begin New Venture
Submitted By Nancy Harvatine

The Presbyterian and United Methodist Churches of Union Dale are joining forces to better serve their community. At a meeting April 18, members of both congregations agreed to combine their efforts in a new venture to be known as “Churches of Union Dale Uniting.”

While retaining their identities with The United Methodist Church and The Presbyterian Church USA, members will now worship together. The goal is to be a more powerful, unified voice in offering Christ to their community.

On the first and third Sundays of each month, services will be held at the Union Dale United Methodist Church. The remaining Sundays members will worship in the Presbyterian Church. All services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Throughout the winter months, all services will be held in the United Methodist Church.

Spiritual leadership will be provided by Jeff Wallis, a Commissioned Lay Pastor of the Presbytery of Lackawanna; Don Perry, Stated Supply at the Union Dale Presbyterian Church since 1994, and newly assigned as Lay Supply Pastor by Bishop Susan Hassinger of The United Methodist Church; and Joyce Thorn, a United Methodist Lay Speaker.
