At the very start of the Mountain View School Board meeting on March 30th, Lucas Taylor, president of the Mountain View School District Alumni Association, presented a check for $3,150 to Superintendent Michael Elia. Mr. Taylor, a 2006 graduate of Mountain View, said that the money is to be used for safety equipment and vests.

Built about 1867, during the heyday of American Freemasonry, the Masonic Lodge building at 140 Main Street in Great Bend has had its ups and downs over the years. The building has hosted a dry goods store and a post office. The most recent commercial tenant, an auto parts store, decamped several years ago and the property was left to deteriorate, to the extent that the Great Bend Borough Council was considering condemnation, when suddenly a pair of saviors appeared, who have dubbed it the Great Bend Masonic Temple.
