All three Lincoln-Douglas debaters placed in the top 8 at the tournament.

The team was led by sophomore Austin Cohen who compiled an undefeated 3 win and 0 loss record in the preliminary rounds. This earned him a place in the Semi-Finals against Zachary Taylor, the defending State Champion, from JM Barrack Hebrew Academy.

Cohen lost a split decision to Taylor and placed third overall in Varsity LD Debate.

Senior Shea Skinner and junior Richard Guiton compiled 2 win and 1 loss preliminary round records and placed 6th and 8th respectively in Varsity LD Debate.

“This was a very impressive performance at a very competitive tournament,” commented EL Forensics Director Keith Brosious.

The three varsity LD debaters wrap up the first half of the season with a record of 50 wins and only 9 losses.

The team will travel to Shikellamy High School on January 8 to compete at the annual Blue, Maroon, and White Invitational Tournament.
