North Jackson Ag 4-H News

On April 22, 2017 the North Jackson Ag 4-H club cleaned up the Gibson cemetery. For many years the 4-H club has raked, picked up sticks, and clean up any trash that may be laying around. After the cemetery was cleaned the North Jackson Ag club held their second meeting of the year. The meeting was opened by Kayleen Conklin. During the meet they discussed the upcoming events the club would be attending. This included pig and lamb tagging on May 6 at the Harford Fair grounds. They also discussed 4-H Shooting Sports Fun Day on May 13, and 4-H Animal Science Camp from May 19-21 at University Park, Pa. They talked about 4-H Livestock Clinic on June 3 at the Harford Fair Grounds. They discussed possible fundraisers for the upcoming 4-H season.

At the meeting new officers were assigned. Officers include president, Vice President, secretary, treasurer, news reporter, historian, and social chair(s). Each officer must complete a book to exhibit in the Harford Fair 4-H building. The President is in charge of running the meetings and making up the agenda for the day. The Vice President runs the meeting if the President is not there. The Secretary’s job is to write down a report of what happened at the meeting and report in at the next meeting. The Treasurer’s job is to keep track of the money the club takes in and spends, they are also in charge of signing checks for what the club uses it on. The News Reporter’s job is to take notes during the meeting and write it into a news report to be published. The Historian’s job is to take pictures at the meeting and put a scrap book together for the Harford Fair. The Social Chair’s job is to come up with games for before and after the meeting.

When voting for officers, the person must be nominated by someone else to take the position. If more than one person is nominated the whole club will vote on who they think is better fit. Our outgoing officers include President Kayleen Conklin; Vice President Jamie Supancik; Secretary Emory Bewley; Treasurer Evan Aldrich; News Reporter; Katelyn Supancik; Historian Holly Galvin.
