On Saturday, December 3rd, Santa took time out from his busy workshop at the North Pole and shared breakfast with the children and their parents of the Tri-Borough area and beyond.
The Elves are Members of the Susquehanna Community Development Association and the Nellie Jane DeWitt Business and Professional Women's Organization who assisted Santa at the recent "Breakfast With Santa" event. Pictured (l-r) are: first row- Darlene Slocum, Judy Rood, Jenny Bixby, and Gay Keyes; second row- Lenore Keyes, Mary Mazikewich, Pam Hennessey, Linda Bedford, Ruth Burke, Alice Evans, Carol McNamara, Toni Romanofski.
This event was sponsored by the Susquehanna Community Development Association in coordination with the St. John’s Men’s Club. A turnout of approximately 200 wide-eyed and excited youngsters and their parents enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast, cooked to perfection by the talented Chefs of the St. John’s Men’s Club. Santa’s friendly Elves, who helped with the early morning repast also assisted the jolly old Elf, and are members of the Susquehanna Community Development Association and the Nellie Jane DeWitt Business and Professional Women’s Organization. You could feel the excitement grow within the confines of St. John’s Parish Hall as anxious youngsters waited for their chance to talk with the much-beloved bearded gent, and share their Christmas wishes, as well as confessing if they had been good or, maybe just a tiny bit bad this past year.
Pictured (l-r) are the St John’s Men’s Club chefs of the breakfast: John "Buddy" Brown, Marty fela, Bill Lawrence, Joe White, Ed Chianese, Matt Frailey, Rick Mazikewich, Jesse Gow, Jerry Caffrey, Chet Walker, Gino Testa.
All of Santa’s little friends were given coloring books and crayons and had a free photo taken with the much-anticipated, red-suited fellow. The children also received treats that were lovingly created by members of the Lanesboro Senior Center. We wish to thank them for all of their talent, kindness, and generosity as well as the following, without whom, this event would not have been a resounding success: “The Friends of Susquehanna County” for their continuing support, Schneider’s Market, American Legion Auxiliary # 86 , Barnes-Kasson Hospital, and the Nellie Jane Dewitt Business and Professional Women’s Club. Last, but definitely not least, (Or we’ll find a large lump of coal in our stockings) Santa Claus (Don DeWitt) for taking time out from his schedule and sharing joy and happiness with the children of our area.
