Maureen Crook

The world lost a very special person on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 when Maureen left this world to join the other angels in heaven.  Maureen was a devoted and loved employee of Lourdes Hospital for 45 years.  Her dedication to the Lourdes’ Mission was recognized when she was presented with the 1998 Annual Mission Award-Frederic Ozanam.  Maureen also received a plaque for her help with Hugs for Kids whose motto was “next to the verb “to love” comes the verb “to help.””  Maureen touched the lives of so many people and will truly be missed.

She loved her community and applied her nursing skills when she joined the Great Bend/Hallstead Volunteer Ambulance Service.  She was also a member of the Hallstead American Legion Auxiliary Post #357 and the Great Bend V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 6223.

Her family would like to thank all of her friends for their love and support the last few days.  A special thank you to Robert Ragard for all his help.  We would also like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at Wilson Memorial Hospital I.C.U. and North Wing 4 for their care and compassion.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Harold Joseph and Bessie Crook.  She is survived by her sister, Nancy and Gary Sienko; her brother, Michael and Dawn Crook; her nieces, Julie and Mark Gallagher, Jamie Sienko; her nephews, Gary and Kylie Sienko, Joseph Crook, Jordan Crook, and Adam Crook; great nieces, Hannah and Harper Gallagher and Tatum Sienko; great nephew, Carson Gallagher; and her life-long partner and very best friend, Alice Heier.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to True Friends Animal Shelter, 16332 SR 706, Montrose, PA 18801 or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements by Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., 25 Susquehanna Ave, Hallstead, PA.

Penny Kenderish

Penny Kenderish, 49 of Susquehanna lost her battle to cancer on Monday, October 10, 2016. She was predeceased by her father, Richard and her uncle, Bruce. She is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her children, Brock and Chelsea; her step-children, Christopher, Kim and Matt; her grandchildren, Abilene, Stetson and Ava; her brothers, Terry and Brian; her aunt, Emme; cousins, Tracie and Tammy; her uncle, Gene.

Penny worked for many years at Putnam Publishing and was the Social Quarters Manager at Susquehanna Moose Lodge #794.

Penny was involved with many fundraisers and could never walk away from someone in need, whether she knew them or not. She enjoyed doing many crafts and paintings that many will enjoy for years to come. She also enjoyed every minute with her grandchildren and took every opportunity to spoil them. She also did everything to make her house a home and never let the honey-do list become blank. She was loved by all and, will be truly missed.

There will be a private service at the family’s convenience. There was a luncheon to celebrate her life Saturday, October 15 at the Susquehanna Moose Lodge.

Donations may be made in memory of Penny to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Dr., Wilkes Barre, Pa 18704
