SEPTEMBER 1

CHICKEN & BISCUIT DINNER: Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 5pm until gone. All you can eat. Take outs also available. VFW Axillary, 386 Main St., Great Bend, PA 18821

Summer Picnic/Policy Development: on Thursday, September 1st starting at 6pm. The Susquehanna County Farm Bureau will host a Summer Picnic and Policy Development at the Belcher Pavilion in South Gibson. Policy discussion will be led by Jim Barbour and Dave DeLeon and District Attorney Robert Klein will bring the County Drug Task Back Van from 6-7pm so bring outdated prescriptions and over the counter medication for disposal. Meat, corn on the cob, table service and beverages will be provided. Please bring a food dish to share with everyone. SEPTEMBER 2

Creative Crayons Childcare Center: Friday, September 2nd. Creative Crayons will no longer be providing quality child care services as of September 2nd. It will be sad to see such a great place close its doors but we are all thankful for everything Sara Conklin and her loving staff have done for our children as they grow and develop in their very capable care and love. A liquidation sale will be happening after September 12th. If you are interested, or want more information, please call Sara at 570-879-0944.

SEPTEMBER 3

END OF SUMMER CELEBRATION: Saturday September 3rd from 9am to 3pm. Thompson United Methodist Church is having its annual End Of Summer Celebration in Thompson, PA. The Garage is filled to the brim with items, Fill The Can with Cookies and Bake sale, craft and vendors, Terry Rockwell will be performing and the Chicken BBQ will begin at 11:00am. Labor Day BBQ: Monday, September 5th at the Montrose Bible Conference. Our BBQ is a delicious ending to our summer season. Join us on our Maplewood Campus as we conclude the summer season. CREATIVE CRAYONS CLOSING: Friday, September 9th, Creative Crayons in Hallstead is unfortunately ending services as a child care provider. While this is a blow to Mrs. Conklin and her staff on a personal level, they did nothing but care and love our communities children and helped them grow and learn. There will be a liquidation sale of the toys, furniture, etc of what is in the center. If you have any questions, call Sara at the center 570-879-0944.

Mountain View Garden Club Meeting: Tuesday September 20, the Mountain View Garden Club will hold their meeting at the Fire Hall on Route 106 in Clifford at 7:00. Civil War Round Table Meeting

The Wyoming Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Memorial Highway, Dallas, PA. 

The program for the evening will be presented by Mark Grimm, Jr., a resident of Biglerville, Pa and retired Marine and an attorney whose ancestor was part of the 51st P.V.I during the Civil War.

Mark Grimm, portraying Major General John Hartranft, will present a first person program describing the imprisonment, trial and execution of those accused of conspiring to assassinate President Lincoln. As the Special Provost Marshall of the Old Military Prison in Washington, DC, General Hartranft was responsible for overseeing the accused and condemned prisoners.

The program is open to the public.  A nominal donation will be accepted for non-members. New members are always welcome.
