The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania is happy to announce that the Susquehanna LWV is once again working in Susquehanna county to promote civic engagement, provide services to voters and educate the public about important issues in their communities and across Pennsylvania. As President of the state League, I look forward to partnering with this dedicated group of women and men as we work together to make Pennsylvania a better place to live.
I’m particularly excited for the work that the Susquehanna LWV is doing to educate the public about the environmental issues that impact their community. Last week, they sponsored a fantastic public event on August 16, 2016 from 7:30-9:30pm to hear from scientist, distinguished academic and global expert, Dr. Paul Connett spoke on issues relating to the proposed incinerator including safety, siting, environmental impacts, regulatory processes, economics, politics and public health, and the role of citizens in a democracy. I encourage others to stay tuned for more fantastic programming.
And of course, the Susquehanna LWV is always looking for new (and returning) members! If you’re interested in joining the League, please contact Julanne Skinner at (570) 396-3534 or call the state League office at (717) 234-1576 or visit us online at www.palwv.org.
Sincerely,

President, League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania
It is August 16, 2016 at Blue Ridge High School Auditorium: The time is 7:00 PM and the Susquehanna County League of Women Voters presents "Incinerator Education Program Series" by Dr. Paul Connett.
The following is my added input, through previous experience, concerning penetration of our lungs by the vapors coming out of the incinerator.
Let us go back approximately 25 years and we are in Los Angeles, California. We are informed that, at night there would be a spray to kill off, I believe, a certain type of mosquito. (I am having a senior moment and cannot remember the exact name of the insect.) The main jest is the size of droplets which may fall upon us, if we are caught outdoors during this spraying.
We are informed that there will be no harm via our lungs to our bodies for the droplets of the spray are too large to pass into our system. We are also informed to wash our clothing and proceed to take a shower with soap and water to alleviate any that adhere to exposed skin, as an added precaution.
Let us go forward approximately 15 years and I am now in Pennsylvania. On my land are three rows of "Concord" grapes. My trouble is that they have a black rot causing the grapes to turn into hardened, inedible, raisins.
Thus, I attend a class to learn more about caring for grape vines. During this class the instructor says to use malathyon several times. However, one must use the finest spray to adhere to the grapes for the heavier droplets will roll off the surfaces of the grapes. The key here, dear readers, is "finest."
Now we are at the present time and Dr. Paul Connett informs us at Blue Ridge auditorium that "micro" droplets from the incinerator will pass into our lungs and through our system exposing us to harmful elements.
Let us examine a blizzard snow storm. It is not always the large wet droplets of snowflakes that pile up that make for the worst storms. Often it is the dry, smaller, continuing flakes that pile up and then wind causes snow drifts of great height.
Let us examine the continuing micro harmful incinerator droplets during a rain day or fog day. The rain will bring down these harmful droplets and fog will probably trap them. Imagine those living in a valley with pockets of fog droplets containing from time to time these micro harmful metals or whatever's. How will this affect our Dairy Farmers?
While viewing a hearing on cable television concerning justification of an increase of milk for Pennsylvania and the importance of our dairy production, my next letters will go to Pa House and Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, and a further one will go to Charles Nicholson of Penn State University. What will the above Committee members and Charles Nicholson have to say about our "Incinerator?"

Hillary Clinton is a physical train wreck. She has as many health problems as a cat has lives. Let's count them.
(1) A hard landing
Some of her health concerns began in 2012 with a fainting incident. She passed out, hitting her head on the floor. The blow was severe enough to cause a concussion.
A concussion is caused by a blow to the head that causes the brain to slam against the skull. This causes the cerebral tissue to bleed and swell. But since there is little room in the skull for the brain to expand it can result in prolonged, even permanent neurological consequences. Such is the case with Hillary.
Husband Bill said it took six months for Hillary to “get over” the concussion.
(2) After shocks
However, three years after Hillary's fall she shows signs of post-concussion syndrome. These symptoms include confusion and forgetfulness, double vision, lack of balance and strength and seizures with bizarre facial expressions.
A reference to each of these symptoms follows:
• Her assistant, Huma Abedin, stated in an e-mail that “she's often confused” and “needs hand-holding with her daily schedule.”
• Periodically she wears prism eyeglasses. With Hillary, the left lens moves the object that is viewed to be in alignment with the other eye correcting for double vision.
• A photo shows Hillary needing the support of three people to stand while addressing a crowd. Another image revealed that Hillary lacked the strength or coordination to climb a short flight of stairs. She was photographed being helped by two men. Even at the top, she needed their assistance.
• Most alarming is what appears to be a localized “seizure.” Actually, it's dyskinesia, a cardinal symptom of Parkinson's disease. A video shows her head suddenly convulsed by involuntary bobbing and jerking for ten seconds. Another caught-on-camera shot shows bizarre facial expressions.
(3) Blood is thicker than water
Shortly after her concussion, doctors discovered a blood clot in her brain. Hillary was hospitalized and given blood thinners that were effective in dissolving the venous clot. In 1998, she was treated for a blood clot in her leg. Hillary has the predisposition to develop this life-threatening blood abnormality. The anticoagulant Coumadin is a permanent part of Hillary's medicinal armamentarium.
(4) Tired and dragged out
Hillary has an under-active thyroid. This condition impairs memory and concentration, causes depression, lack of energy, and muscular weakness. She is being treated with Armour Thyroid pills.
(5) Does Hillary have a bottle problem?
Just before her '08 run for the presidency, Hillary was found wandering in Philadelphia begging passers-by for “five dollars for a cab.” She hadn't changed her pantsuit for days: “I've been sitting in a duck blind for the weekend,” said the presidential candidate.
.
A statement read by a Clinton campaign spokesperson said: "Senator Clinton has decided to take a month off from campaigning to attend to a personal matter." The “personal matter” might have been a stay in a rehab facility.
- Private physician 24/7.
-
Hillary travels with a neurologist who stands ready with a device that instantly injects Diazepam, a drug prescribed for alcohol withdrawal, panic attacks, and seizure control.
A side effect of Diazepam is incontinence. The jackets to Hillary's pantsuits always fall below the hip. Perchance to hide the appearance of adult diapers? Detrol is often prescribed for incontinence. Could these be some of the reasons why Hillary refuses to give press conferences?
(7) Is cancer part of her pathology?
An open-mouth screen shot of the former secretary of state shows a pea-sized tumor on her tongue. Months later another image showed a depression where the lesion was. The all-important question is this: Was the lump benign or cancerous? Since she refuses to release her medical records, we are not likely to find out anytime soon.
(8) Matters of the heart.
In his book, Blood Feud, Edward Klein wrote that “a stress test indicated that her [Hillary] heart rhythm and heart valves were not normal.” She may be taking the anti-arrhythmic drug, Verapamil. They warned Bill that “she has to be carefully monitored for the rest of her life.”
(9) A twenty-year cough.
Are the coughing fits caused by an allergy, as she suggested? Or “A failing left heart ventricle due to scarring [caused by a] post heart attack,” as Dr. Liang-Hai Sie opined?
The main-steam media incessantly query's Trump's fitness for office, but ne'er is there a whisper about Hillary's competency for the Oval Office. And while the establishment press badgers Trump for his latest tax return, no one dares calls for Hillary's medical records.
Trump is Trump. What you see is what you get. But Hillary is a pharmacological-cyborg. A daily witch's brew of drugs, followed by her favorite eye-opener, a boilermaker (a shot of whiskey followed by a beer), which can fuel personality distortions. With Hillary, what you see is not necessarily what you get.
Sincerely,

I received a video on e-mail that I believe any person, including Mr. Van Eck, who continue to believe that all of the horrible reports on Hillary Clinton are totally made up or half truths to discredit her should watch. Those of us old enough to remember the facts of her life are always accused of bringing up old charges. She has not changed her ways since this video and it shows how totally corrupt she is. If you have a computer and are not afraid to learn the truth go to hppf://www.youtube.com/embed/BdNHe1g4ivA or if you do not use google, who has been found to block many searches they deem politically incorrect, you can simply use bing as your search engine and enter: “I thought you should know”. The video is only 2 minutes and 55 seconds long and contains Hillary not only admitting the truth of the video but bragging about it.
The thought that this woman would be the one to choose possibly three Supreme Court Justices should our country be foolish to elect her is enough to make nightmares of the direction our great country would be headed in. Germany once found themselves where we stand today and continued to support the promises of Hitler. As we now judge their mistakes, one day ours would be judged should we continue to support what has always been known to be evil.

Donald Trump has a habit of saying perfectly awful things. But of all the awful things he's said, the most insidious is saying that if he doesn't win Pennsylvania, it's due to fraud.
Really? A state which has gone Democratic six straight elections can't do it a seventh time? A state where Hillary leads in the polls can't legitimately go for her in the one poll that counts?
This is more than juvenile sour grapes on Trump's part (an attitude we should well expect). This is undermining our system of government. It's setting up domestic insurrection, maybe even a civil war. It's expanding on his assassination threat against Hillary.
Election Day 2016, Trump will lose. His worshipers are poorly educated and choking with resentment. They've had a hard time understanding that they're out of step with an America that's been passing them by for years. But Trump has already suggested, and I mean using the power of suggestion, a salve for their wounded psyches: a stolen election. They're primed to latch on to it. And in many more states than PA.
Vague allegations are not proof, much less evidence. But they won't care. They don't care about fine intellectual distinctions like that. In their minds (or rather, gut) if something seems true to them, it must be, even in the total absence of evidence. Their religion already encourages them to think that way. This is the point where they may turn to "Second Amendment remedies". And it's all because Trump is not man enough to lose with dignity, a loss he's so richly earned.
Just like he tried to delegitimize President Obama with the Birther nonsense, Trump is-- in advance-- trying to delegitimize the coming election. This will make it much harder for the system to work. But that must be the idea. Trump has tossed a bomb into the American system of government. He'll bring everything down unless he's anointed dictator. As a form of blackmail, it's not going to help him at all. But as revenge, it can't be surpassed.
Sincerely,
Stephen Van Eck
