The summit focused on pairing business and industry needs with a skilled workforce. Commonwealth employers reported difficulty filling open positions ranging from administrative to technical/skilled trades.; they just can’t find employees with adequate skills, training and education. A 2016 survey reported that 52% of employers say recruiting qualified candidates is very difficult. Companies that are shown to be successful are the ones that supported partnerships, programs and workforce development initiatives.
