Pet of the Week

This adorable pocket-pit mix offers the best of both worlds! He can be a couch potato who would love to snuggle with you on lazy rainy days and he is also a spunky get-up and go kind of boy who would love to accompany you on outdoor adventures. Don't let his small stature mislead you! This handsome guy has the heart and soul of a dog ten times his size! Pumpkin is 2 years old, neutered and up to date on shots. He gets along with cats and some other dogs. Love, affection, and fun all wrapped up in this pint-sized package! What more could you ask for? Please consider making Pumpkin the newest addition to your family!

We are getting ready for our annual Woofstock! Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, August 20th, True Friend’s 5th year anniversary and a day you and your four legged friend won’t want to miss at Salt Springs Park. If you would like to be a sponsor for this event, please contact the shelter at #570-278-1228. Sponsor levels start at only $25 and are a crucial part of Woofstock and keeping our shelter door’s open.

Fun Fact: While we all know the power of talking about your problems with a good friend who’s also a good listener, recent research shows that spending time with a pet may be even better. When conducting a task that’s stressful, people actually experienced less stress when their pets were with them than a supportive friend or even their spouse. This may be partially due to the fact that pets don’t judge us; they just love us. Looking for a good listener who doesn’t judge? Stop by and meet Pumpkin and all our other true friends!

Library Teams Up With McDonald’s

The Susquehanna County Historical Society and Free Library Association has partnered with McDonald’s for this year’s Blueberry Festival. Newberry, the Blueberry Festival’s mascot, along with Blueberry Festival Book Sale Chairperson John Hotvedt visited the Montrose McDonald’s Restaurant on Thursday, May 26, to collect used books from Montrose Store Manager Rachel Wojtkowski, Owner Doug Lattner and Grimace himself.

Patrons visiting the McDonald’s locations in Montrose and Hallstead during the month of June who donate a gently-used book for the Blueberry Festival’s book sale will receive a coupon for a food or dessert item. The used book sale raises thousands of dollars each year during the annual Blueberry Festival. This year’s festival will be held August 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
