DOROTHY J. WHITNEY STOCKHOLM
Dorothy J. Whitney Stockholm, 85, was reunited with her husband, Alvin on June 2, 2016 due to complications related to hip surgery. She is the daughter of the late Howard and Helen Gardner Whitney. Dorothy is predeceased by a brother, Robert Whitney, a sister-in-law, Ruth, a sister, Isabelle, and brother-in-law, Raymond Tingley, a sister, Margaret and brother-in-law, Charles Gumaer, and sister-in-law, Grace Whitney.
She is survived by her brother, Glenn Whitney, Rochester, NY. Dorothy and Alvin have two daughters, Pat and son-in-law, Victor Arnold, and Sandy West and partner, Frank Sharpe; two beloved grandsons, Timothy Carpenter and wife Brandy, and Stephen West and partner, Rebekah Evans; a great-granddaughter, Madison Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews, who were very special to her.
Dorothy has a close friend and care giver, Doreen Moat. They spent many fun days playing their card game, SkipBo. She would also like to acknowledge her case worker, Christina Deakon from the TreHab Agency of Susquehanna County, who made everything easier for her. Dorothy was mostly a stay at home mom. She did work briefly at Fair Play Caramel Factory and James and Nick Sandwich Shop, both formerly in Binghamton. Later in life she worked at McIntosh Labs with her daughter, Sandy. In her younger years, Dorothy was a Girl Scout leader, Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Local Civic Club. She was a member of the former Hallstead United Methodist Church and was active in UMW. Dorothy became a member of the United Methodist Community Church upon the merge of the two churches.
Dorothy created a women’s bible study that met once a week in her home almost a decade ago. These women became like a second family.
You will remember her best if you received a carefully wrapped package of her cinnamon buns for either being sick, or had a death in your family, or because she was thinking of you. She also was prompt on sending cards for various occasions.
Alvin and Dorothy enjoyed their last few years together in the comfort of their home with family and friends.
A funeral service was be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the United Methodist Community Church, Great Bend, PA.
Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Dorothy had requested donations be sent to the United Methodist Community Church, P.O. Box 586, Great Bend, PA 18821.

ELEANOR HUNTER
Eleanor Hunter, 92, of Harford, PA passed away May 27, 2016 at the Golden Living Skilled Nursing Center, Tunkhannock, PA.
In 1955, Eleanor, along with her husband, George and their four daughters, came to Harford. Their only son was born there five years later.
Together, they were owners and proprietors of the Harford Supermarket or “Hunters’ Store.” The family worked together and, thanks to a welcoming and supportive community, the business became firmly established. All were involved with the Harford Fair. Eleanor became active in the community. She was a long time member of the Harford Congregational Church, teaching Sunday School and active in the Willing Workers. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rebekah’s, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and an active contributor to local Girl Scout activities.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, George, daughter, Donna, and two grandsons, Curtis and Scott.
She is survived by a son, Richard Hunter; three daughters, Nancy Hunter, Linda Tracy, and Gloria Pedrick; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Noon, June 11, 2016 at the Harford Congregational Church with family visitation from 11:00-12:00, prior to the service.

Richard M. Price
Richard M. Price, 85, of Thompson, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2016, at the Barnes Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, PA after an illness.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Minerva Price; son, Lee Roger Price; two brothers, Wayne and Millard Price; and a sister, Wilda Jennings.
He was survived by his six children Eugene and Donna Price of Thompson, PA, Lewis and Kitty Price of Uniondale, PA, Dean Price and Sarah Lee of Deposit, NY, Dennis and Anita Price of Susquehanna, PA, Sandy Kilmer of Thompson, PA, and Lisa Allen, of Susquehanna, PA; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was a farmer his entire life and he also worked as a truck driver at PennDOT for 25 years. He enjoyed his tropical fish as well as raising and showing rabbits. Richard was a lifetime member of the Grange #798 in Gelatt, PA. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, June 7, at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA.
Interment will be held in the Gelatt Cemetery, Gelatt, PA.
Shelby J. Colwell
Shelby J. Colwell, 78, of Hallstead, PA was called home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2016. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 61 years, Robert B. Colwell. Shelby was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Fanny Smallacombe; sisters, Joyce Hall and Lois Waterman; a brother, Robert Smallacombe; in-laws, Kenneth Colwell, Ruth Colwell, Marcella Colwell, Willard Colwell, James Valentine, and Louis Hall.
Shelby is survived by her six children, Dennis (Marty) Colwell, Denise (Rick) Everett, David (Kevin) Colwell, Mark (Lisa) Colwell, Michael (Donna) Colwell, and Margie (Larry) French; grandchildren, Desmond Col-Wells, Kristy (Dan) VanDeWeert, Kelly (Dan) McGowan, Paul (Lisa) Everett, Leyna (Louis) Colwell, Erica (Andrew) Ginther, Tricia Colwell, Robert Colwell, Tracy (Josh) Colwell, Austin French, and Corbin French; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Carole) Smallacombe; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald Waterman, Mina Smallacombe, Joyce Valentine, Edward (Dorthea) Colwell, Paul Colwell, Harold (Lorraine) Colwell, Eugene Colwell, Esther Frantz, Debbie (Robert) Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Shelby was a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Milford, PA. She worked for Reddon’s Drugstore, ran Colwell’s Clothing, and retired from Lourdes Hospital, after which time she could be found doing home health care for many area residents. She had a special gift of nurturing and kindness that touched so many lives. Her husband was the love of her life and they enjoyed many wonderful years together making memories that will be shared and cherished forever.
The family received friends at the First United Methodist Church, Pratt Street, New Milford, PA on Saturday, June 4, with a service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Barnes-Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility, who took excellent care of Shelby for the past 9 months at: 2872 Turnpike Street, Susquehanna, PA 18847.
