SCCTC Graduates Nursing Students

On Friday evening, March 11, 2016, the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center graduated its fourth class of Practical Nurse students. The ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Elk Lake School. Elk Lake/SCCTC Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Cuomo and School Board President Arden Tewksbury were present for the ceremony, as well as Dr. Alice Davis, SCCTC Executive Director.  The sense of pride exhibited by Dr. Davis was evident to all in attendance. Dr. Davis stated, “The path you have chosen is an admirable one; follow your passion and stay true to yourself.”

Nathan Ritter, pictured, is a shining example of the possibilities afforded to students at the SCCTC. In just one year, Nathan has become a Practical Nurse program graduate, Class Valedictorian, Class Vice-President and has received the Florence Nightingale Award for Clinical Excellence and Leadership

Brittany Sisson, LPN, Class of 2015 was the guest speaker, followed by Karen Killian, Nursing Instructor, who delivered an inspirational speech that congratulated the graduates for their compassion, empathy and knowledge necessary to be the best nurses they can be. The entire SCCTC Nursing staff participated in some way, to make the evening a huge success.

A new SCCTC Practical Nurse class started just days after the graduation and the fifth class will be graduating in September 2016. Another class will start in September and the nursing staff is hoping to draw this next class from local school districts by encouraging seniors that are interested in the health care field to enroll.
