Warren Fay Lont

Warren Fay Lont, 73, of Great Bend, PA, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the home of his daughter, Alison Boorujy.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Lont; his children, Alison (CAPT James) Boorujy of Watertown, WI, and Jonathan (Jennifer) of Carleton, MI; siblings, Dr. Wallace E. (Nancy) Lont of Winter Haven, FL, Dr. Frederick (Hope) Lont of Camillus, NY, Kenneth (Ellen) Lont of Easley, SC, Kathryn (Dale) Bower of Auburn, NY; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Rinker of Montrose, PA, Roger Rinker of Hallstead, PA, Francis (Helen) Rinker of Ormond Beach, FL, David (Kim) Rinker of Hallstead, PA, Kenneth (Carolyn) Rinker of Hallstead, PA, Sandra Rinker of Springville, PA, and Becky (Steven) Cole of Lynchburg, VA; many nieces and nephews. Warren always loved and appreciated his 8 grandchildren: Abigail, Emily, Katherine, James, Jr., Joseph, and Luke Warren Boorujy; Andrew and William Lont.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Wallace and Lillian Lont; father and mother- in-law, George and Lena Rinker, Louis Timmermans; uncle and aunt, Frank and Frances White; brothers-in-law, Donald Rinker and Frank Rinker; sister-in-law, Priscilla Rinker.

Warren was an active member at First Baptist Church, Hallstead, PA for nearly 45 years. He worked 15 years at Broome County Children’s Services and 25 years for the USPS, Binghamton, NY. He had a great burden for prenatal children.

We appreciate God leading us to the following doctors and staffs: Drs O. Ahmed, Barrett, J. Farrell, Ronald Harris, Lerman, Lethin, N. Rosa; Froedthert Hospital (Milwaukee), Drs. Kleczka, Asim Mohammed, Nunzio, and their Teams; the Staff at Watertown Hospital (WI); Marquardt Home Health and Hospice. They have been a special blessing and encouragement to us; many thanks to them for their excellent care.

A private interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 13, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hallstead, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Handicap Access Fund at First Baptist Church, 108 Pine St., PO Box N, Hallstead, PA 18822 or National Right to Life.

Donald G. Wilbur

Donald G. Wilbur, 84, formerly of Hallstead, PA entered into rest on March 24, 2016. He is the son of the late George and Dorothy Wilbur and he was also predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Brown.

Don is survived by wife, Retta, Slidell, LA; daughter, Saundra and Alan Zerenguie; grandsons, Alan and Andrew, all of Slidell, LA; brother, James and Michael Wilbur; niece and nephews, James, Scott, and Janille; a sister, Phyllis and Gerald Caffrey; niece, Rebecca and David Williams; nephew, Jeffrey and Ellen Brown; great nieces, Megan and Mitch Less and Jessica and Jay Zawisky; great nephews, Jeffrey and Kate Brown and Zachary Brown and Jackie; and an aunt, Jeanette Decker, Greene, NY.

Donald worked very hard throughout his life despite of his handicap. His sense of humor stayed with him throughout his life. He retired from Blue Ridge High School, after 20 years of service as a custodian, of which he was very proud.

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff of Barnes-Kasson SNF. We can’t express our gratitude enough for everything they’ve done for Don.

A private graveside service will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc.

Carl A. Lawrenson, 92, of Susquehanna, PA (Feb. 20, 1924 – Mar. 23, 2016)

Carl A. Lawrenson, Susquehanna, Pa went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. He was the son of Orr and Neva Mae (Severson) Lawrenson. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth Rae (Regan) Lawrenson to whom he was married for over 66 years, and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Catlin.

He is survived by his sister, Arlene Catlin, of Montrose, PA, and his children, Cecile Ball and husband William of Springville, PA, Fred Lawrenson and wife, Holly, of Elkland, PA, Jane Mazikewich and husband, William, of Susquehanna, PA, Kim Lawrenson and wife, Mary Ann, of Thompson, PA, and Stephen Lawrenson and wife, JoAnne, of Susquehanna, PA, grand children, Jennifer Sorber (Scott) of Vestal, NY, Amy Ide (Bill) of Elkton, MD, Jason Ball (Bree) of Vestal, NY, David Lawrenson of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Neva Burns (Dane) of New London, NC, Erin Greene (Jelani) of Buffalo, NY, Kristin Peters (Stewart) of Knoxville, TN, Alec Mazikewich (Erin) of Susquehanna, PA, Stephen Mazikewich of Susquehanna, PA and girl friend Keliann of Vestal, NY, Katie Lawrenson and fiancé Kyle of NYC, Lindsay Lawrenson of Susquehanna, PA, Maggie Lawrenson of NYC, Emily and Sophie Lawrenson of Thompson, PA, and 21 great-grandchildren. Carl is also survived by two nieces, Nancy Newhart (Maurice, deceased) and Bev Gerlins (Aivars); two nephews, Rex Catlin (Paula) and Richard Catlin (Joanne).

Mr. Lawrenson served in the U.S. Army’s 88th infantry (The Blue Devils of Italy) from Jan.1944 – Mar. 1946 where he was severely wounded and was awarded a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a life long member of the American Legion Post 86 of Susquehanna, PA. He also served 10 years on the Susquehanna Community School District Board of directors and formerly served as vice president of the board of directors of Barnes Kasson Memorial Hospital. Carl was a member of the Susquehanna United Methodist Church where he served as board member and president and choir member. He obtained his 1st PA barber’s license in 1953 and ran the Oakland Barbershop for over 4 decades. In 1994, his daughter, Jane Mazikewich, joined him in the shop, eventually taking it over in 1998. Mr. Lawrenson continued to work at the shop part time until retiring at age 80 in 2004. He enjoyed golf, gardening and watching baseball and he loved to paint.

Our father was a beautiful soul, who served God, country, family and community. He is one of the last of the Greatest Generation and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The funeral service was held Monday, March 28th. The Susquehanna United Methodist Church on Main St., Susquehanna, PA, offered by Vincent Chiaramonte, Certifed Lay Servant.

Burial was in McKune Cemetery, Susquehanna.

Arrangements are by Hennessey’s Funeral Home.
