Rep. Major Sets Office Hours

In an effort to provide convenient access to state services, Rep. Sandra Major (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) has announced her monthly satellite office and veterans assistance hours for the month of November.

“As always, I encourage residents living or working in northern Wayne County who may be in need of assistance from my offices to make use of my monthly satellite office hours in Lakewood. These special hours enable folks to access the same services provided by my permanent district office, but at a much more convenient location,” said Major. “The veteran assistance hours have received incredible feedback from all those who have taken advantage of the free service. Those veterans, or their family members, who have questions or are having trouble accessing services or benefits are encouraged to make an appointment to talk with a service officer.”

On Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Preston Township Building on Crosstown Highway (Route 370) in Lakewood she will be offering her satellite office hours to help residents in the area. The satellite office is open from 10 a.m. to noon and provides many services.

In addition to the Lakewood and Honesdale offices, Major also has a full-time office in Montrose, Susquehanna County, at 16501 S.R. 706, Suite 2. The phone number is (570) 278-3374 or toll free at 1-800-418-5048. Major can also be contacted via her website at RepMajor.com, email at SMajor@pahousegop.com or on Facebook at Facebook.com/RepMajor.

Rep. Pickett Sets Office Hours

With colder weather settling in, Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) encourages residents who are in need of assistance with state-related matters to contact her satellite office hours in Sullivan and Susquehanna counties during special office hours in November.

Pickett’s office can help residents who may be having trouble with their home heating bills or put them in touch with special utility programs. She emphasized that even with the state budget impasse, many programs and services specifically relating to health and safety are continuing, including the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which opened for applications on Monday, Nov. 2.

“With these satellite office hours, we’re hoping we can bring state services closer to the people who need them,” Pickett said. “I urge anyone needing state help who cannot make the trip into Sayre or Towanda to stop by and get the assistance they need from my office.”

In Sullivan County, Pickett’s staff will help residents with their concerns and questions from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, Nov. 4 and Nov. 18, in the county commissioners’ office in the courthouse in Laporte.

In Susquehanna County, staff will be at Heft’s Buy and Sell in Lawton, from 10 a.m. to noon on the second Wednesday, Nov. 11.

To help veterans navigate the complexities of government programs and services designed specifically for them, Dan Falls from the American Legion will be meeting with veterans and/or their family members from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19. Falls can help veterans and their family members with compensation, pension, death benefits, education and health care, as well as any issues pertaining to benefits. Veterans do not need to be a member of the American Legion to receive these services, and appointments can be made by calling Pickett’s Sayre office at (570) 888-9011.

Pickett’s full-time offices are located at 321 Main St., Towanda, phone (570) 265-3124, and 106 West Packer Ave., Sayre, phone (570) 888-9011. More information is available 24 hours a day on Pickett’s website at www.RepPickett.com  or on her Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/RepPickett. Residents can also sign up via her website to receive a weekly email about local and state activities.
