Maria Lee Marcikonis, 56, of Thompson, PA formerly of Elmwood, CT, died peacefully June 18, 2015 after a long illness.
Lee was born in Hartford, CT, 1958, daughter of the late Paul John Marcikonis and Virginia (Fahey) Marcikonis. Lee had lived in Elmwood CT, for over 40 years and spent summers on Wrighter Lake in Thompson, PA. Besides her parents Lee was predeceased by her older brother Pete and younger brother Tom.
Lee is survived by her sister Frankie; brother Michael; sister-in-law Sarah of Longmont, CO; and many dear cousins and friends.
Lee attended Conard High School in West Hartford, CT and volunteered at the West Hartford Public Library. Lee loved laughter and her sense of humor made her a joy to be around. She will be remembered for many gifts but especially for her love of family, friends and music of Barry Manilow.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. B. Patel, the nurses and care givers at Barnes Kasson Hospital, SNF and ICU, Reddon’s Drug Store and Pharmacy, the family of Florence Stone, and Robert Packer Hospital 5th floor.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at the St. John’s Church in Susquehanna, PA, with Rev. David Cramer officiating.
Interment will be held directly following mass in the St. John’s Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.
The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, on Wednesday, from 9am to 10am.
Brett McEwen,45, of Lanesboro, Pa. passed away Monday June 15, 2015 at the Athens Health & Rehab Center, Athens, PA after a courage battle with cancer.
He is survived by his father William L. McEwen; mother Barbara Evans; two daughters Jennifer McEwen and Jessica McEwen; two sisters Melissa & Mike Friedman and Kelly & Rob Tanskey; granddaughter Alecsandria Youngs; three stepchildren Richard Ianuale, Gregory Ianuale, Janet Ianuale; former companion Carolyn Thompson; several nieces and nephews.
He worked for Ed Green Stone Quarry before his illness.
The funeral service was held on Saturday June 20th at Hennessey’s Funeral Home 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, Pa. with Pastor Kevin Setzer officiating.
Burial will be in the North Jackson Cemetery in North Jackson, Pa.
Howard W. Potter
Howard W. Potter, 84 of Susquehanna passed away peacefully at home June 14, 2015 after a short illness.
He was predeceased by his parents Tracy and Cora (Starbird) Potter; brothers Stanley and Myron Potter.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Harriette (Roe) Potter; a daughter and son-in-law Karen and Bob Stone; three grandchildren Jessica (Joe) Burchell, Erick (Kelly) Stone, and Bradley (Desiree) Stone; also five great grandchildren, Chloe, Troy and Elise Burchell, and Andrew and Nathan Stone.
Howard retired from I.B.M. in the 1980’s and was co-owner of the Susquehanna Home Center and continued to work until the time of his illness. He also worked in real estate. He was a member of the North Jackson Methodist Church and was a trustee for many years. He was also a member of Canawacta Masonic Lodge #360. He served as president of the Evergreen Cemetery Association for many years. He loved fishing and cars especially old cars. Most of all he loved his family who will miss him dearly.
A Memorial Service was held Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Brushville Baptist Church with Pastor Alex Vosburgh officiating.
Interment immediately followed in the Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.
