EMBA, the Endless Mountains Business Association, recently presented a check of three hundred and fifty dollars in support of CAFÉ’s annual Washington, DC trip. CAFÉ, Creative Adventures for Education, Inc, was founded in 2000 as a 501c3 nonprofit corporation which exists for the sole purpose of serving the students of the Blue Ridge School District in order to further their knowledge about, understanding of, and appreciation for our governments.

Pictured Tom Chamberlain, CAFÉ Board of Directors president, is presented with a check by Kim Smith, EMBA treasurer, along with Ethel Boccafogli, EMBA president.
Each year CAFÉ coordinates a 4 day/3 night tour to Washington, DC for all Blue Ridge 6th grade students, scheduled for April 29th thru May 2nd this year. This is a program that allows students in our area to experience our Nation’s Capital, its monuments and museums. It affords the kids a better understanding of how our government works. It costs each child $350 to participate. In order to facilitate this trip, the members of the Board of Directors volunteer their time and work collaboratively with others in the community to raise funds to pay for the trip and make all arrangements for staffing, transportation, housing, meals, special appearances, ticket procurement, first aid and safety/security for the trip. The children involved also sell candy bars to help raise monies toward their own way.
CAFÉ is always appreciative of any contributions, as their goal is that no child be left behind for an inability to pay their way. This is the first year EMBA has contributed toward this very worthwhile curriculum. For further information on EMBA and our mission of connecting local businesses to encourage growth, please call Ethel Boccafogli at (570) 756-2489.
The Montrose Area Kiwanis Club recently established a Community Service Fund with The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains. The fund is a permanent endowment that will provide grants to the Kiwanis Club each year to assist with the club’s various community projects. “The Montrose Area Kiwanis Club has a long tradition of supporting a broad array of local activities, and the new endowment will help the club continue that tradition and possibly expand that support,” said Sam Arnold, club president.

The Kiwanis Club organizes and finances an annual Christmas toy collection drive that last year provided toys for hundreds of local children. The club has also established two Bringing Up Grades programs in the Montrose Area Elementary Schools, sponsors four youth clubs in the Montrose Area and Elk Lake schools, and helps finance the GROW program for Elk Lake girls. A Kiwanis parade and party is an annual Halloween event for local children. The club also supports local American Legion baseball and sponsors a Little League team. Other beneficiaries of Kiwanis Club contributions include the county library’s Blueberry Festival, Christmas in Montrose, the Montrose Restoration Committee, Interfaith’s Bountiful Blessings, and the Women’s Resource Center.
“This new endowment will provide a reliable and growing base of funding that the club will be able to utilize for many generations to come,” said Peter Quigg, Community Foundation president. To help enhance its value and its granting ability, this new fund can always receive additional tax-deductible donations, which can be sent to The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains, 207 Lake Avenue Montrose, PA 18801 or made online at www.community-foundation.org.

Jinx
Jinx is super cute and very friendly. He is 7 years young, neutered, housebroke and ready for a new adventure. He would be a great addition to a caring family. He is a medium energy type guy so he would do fine out jogging, walking or cuddling up on the sofa.
