Blue Ridge fifth graders completed their fifth annual Prehistoric Cave Project in Ms. Sarrah Dibble's art class for the Elementary Open House on September 27, 2012. In art class, students viewed pictures of and discussed the Lascaux Cave and the Chauvet Cave in France. Students also learned about the importance of the paintings discovered in the caves, how the painters made paint, and tools they used to create them. Each student worked to complete a few paintings that were hung on the wooden cave structure in the hallway.

The Elk Lake Support Staff Association was pleased to purchase a new coffee pot for Mrs. Callum's class. Students from Mrs. Callum's class prepare homemade muffins each week.

Every Friday, the class provides coffee and muffins for the staff at Elk Lake School to purchase. The profit from this project is used to support the community transition activities which the students participate in.

Elk Lake Junior High School Principal Brain Mallery has announced the September 2012 Students of the Month for grades seven through nine.
