JUNE E. POWERS

June E. Powers, 73, of Jackson Township, PA went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth R. Powers in April 2006.

June is survived by her children, Karen Hardy, New Milford, PA, Sharon and Paul Moss, Johnson City, David Powers, Kalispell, MN, and Dean Powers, Jackson Township, PA; five grandchildren, Larry Hardy, Sarah Hardy, Kenneth Moss, Steven and Mindy Moss, and Ryan Moss; a sister, Jean Rose, Montrose, PA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfred Powers, Alice Jane Powers, Evelyn Hausold, Norma and Chuck Richline, Patricia and Jerry Heart, and Carl Goarkke; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kenneth and June purchased a dairy farm in Jackson Township in 1965 moving from Andover, NJ. She loved raising her family on the farm. Her home was always welcoming and open to friends and relatives. June was an active member of Lakeview Mennonite Church. She lived her life based on scripture and her personal relationship with the Lord Jesus.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Lakeview Mennonite Church. Interment will be made in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1-3 p.m., prior to the service.

JAYE (DEAKIN) DOMER

Jaye (Deakin) Domer, 52, passed away April 3, 2011, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.

Jaye was a Senior-Parole Agent with Indiana Dept. of Corrections. She was a loving person who put others first. Jaye was the granddaughter of the late Bill and Ethel Mess and Henry and Faye Deakin.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Domer of Fort Wayne; parents, Jay and Jean Mess Deakin of Kingston, TN; daughter, Johanna Deakin-Domer; foster children, Donisha Frazier, Kenny Davey, and Selena Davey; step-daughters, Holly and Jillian Domer; brothers, William Deakin of Chicago, Ill., and Robert Deakin of Oliver Springs, TN.; two nieces, Chloe and Ava Deakin.

Services were held Thursday, April 7, 2011, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home (http://www.mccombandsons.com) with Pastor Dennis Leinbach officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Lions Eye Bank.

MARTIN J. GALLAGHER

Martin J. Gallagher, 80 of Jackson, PA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 25, 2011. He was born December 11, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Martin and Annetta Gallagher.

Martin is survived by his wife of 11 years, Ruth Page Gallagher; his sister, Sister Margaret Ann Gallagher of Pasadena, MD; two daughters; two grandchildren; five step children and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Martin was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Stockton State College, in New Jersey, as a maintenance supervisor in 1993.

A memorial service was held on Friday, April 29, 2011, at the North Jackson Methodist Church, in North Jackson, PA, with Rev. James Rouse officiating.

CARRERA ISABELL PHILLIPS

The beloved daughter of Sabrina Zeruth and Brian Phillips was born and entered into rest on January 25, 2011. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

HELEN BENSON CUMMINGS

Helen Benson Cummings, age 95, passed away February 22, 2011. She was born April 29, 1915 in Susquehanna, PA to Harry and Laura Benson.

After graduating Emery Riddle business school she worked in Norfolk, VA where she met and married a “sailor,” Thomas Lowell (Bud) Cummings. They moved to Ketchikan, Alaska where they stump ranched and raised 4 children. In 1958 they moved back east to PA and NY where she raced stock cars. They moved to Oregon in 1975 and stump ranched on the Umpqua River, where Bud died in 1978. Helen resided there until her death.

She was a very active person. Her philosophy was to keep moving and have fun. She was a Scout leader, loved to sing in church, danced with square dance clubs and at Eagles Lodge in Sutherlin where she was officer for over 10 years, bowled, every week, and camped with ORLOWS club. She won gold medals competing in the “Bolder, Boulder” 10K in her 80’s and Corvallis 5K at 92. She loved McDonalds’ for good food and friendly people.

She is survived by 4 children and their spouses: Betty and Don Adams, Jay and Sandiey Cummings, Bill and Dorie Cummings, and Dian Cummings and Boone Kaufman; 9 Grandchildren; and 12 Great Grandchildren.

Memorial Services were held Sunday, February 27 at Neighborhood Church of Christ, 450 Hawthorne, Sutherlin, OR.
