ARLENE K. SKELLETT

Arlene K. Skellett, 95, of Cazenovia, NY passed away Saturday June 19, 2010 at home after an illness.

She was born in Susquehanna, PA on June 26, 1914 where she resided for many years prior to moving to Shavertown, PA and later to Cazenovia, NY. She was the daughter of the late Frank & Ethel (Carrier) Knapp.

She was predeceased by her husband Jack W. Skellett; brothers Jack and Robert Knapp; sons John and Arthur Bradstreet.

Arlene is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Pittelli of Danbury, CT; son Roger & Bonnie Bradstreet of Cazenovia, NY; as well as 7 grandchildren Kimberly & Fred Shaw, Kendra & Bryan Howley, Jarrod Pittelli, Roger & Kathy Bradstreet, Jennifer & Phil Gott, Amy Bradstreet and John Bradstreet; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 26 at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna and at the St. John’s Church in Susquehanna where a mass of Christian Burial was offered by Rev. Cramer.

The was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Susquehanna.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Palliative Care Fund of St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center at 301 Prospect Ave. Syracuse, NY 13203.

NELLIE JANE DeWITT MURPHY

Nellie Jane Murphy, 67, Susquehanna, formerly of Orson, died Monday, June 21, 2010 after a brief illness at Barnes-Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna. Her loving husband of 47 years is Stanford Murphy.

She was born in Susquehanna, daughter of Myron Byrd DeWitt and Mary Lea DeWitt. She was a graduate of Laurel Hill Academy and attended Marywood University. She and her husband were the owners of the Orson Inn for over 29 years.

Nellie enjoyed people and loved spending time with family, especially her granddaughter and friends. She also enjoyed reading and was known to all as a great cook.

The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Barnes-Kasson, especially the Skilled Nursing Staff.

Surviving are her husband, Stanford, Susquehanna; a daughter, Nellie Jane, Jr., Clarks Summit; three sons, Stanford and wife Kelly, Scranton, Sean and Myron, Susquehanna; a granddaughter, Shealyn, Scranton; sisters, Eleanor Andrejko, Tracy, CA, Susan Rowe, Judy Cook and Lori Jo Dewitt, Susquehanna; and brothers Warren DeWitt, Donald DeWitt and Myron DeWitt, Susquehanna.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Mary DeWitt; and sister, Melaine DeWitt.

A memorial service was held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Susquehanna.

RHODA E. BALDWIN

Rhoda E. Baldwin, formerly of New Milford, PA, passed away in Cynthiana, KY on June 16, 2010. Rhoda was born on August 1, 1926 to the late Ella and Ernest Elbrecht in New Milford, PA.

She was predeceased by sisters Rachel Elbrecht, Maude Oakley and Josephine Jennings; and a brother Eldridge Elbrecht.

She is survived by her brother Everett Elbrecht and his wife Elizabeth of Great Ben , PA; and a sister-in-law Helen Elbrecht of Hallstead, PA. She is also survived by her son Duane Baldwin and wife Laurie; and 2 grandchildren, Heather and Heath of Rochester, NY.

She spent a great deal of time with her many nieces and nephews who all loved her stories of her adventures. She spent her last days with a very special niece, Shawn Wilmot. Rhoda retired from Rochester Psychiatric Center and enjoyed her time gardening, cooking and doing needlework. Her greatest enjoyment came from fishing which she would do whenever and wherever she could.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Gibson United Methodist Church on July 10, at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate the joy that Rhoda has given all who knew her.

ROBERT R. (KILLER) ROE

Robert R. Roe, 69, of Susquehanna, PA, passed away Thursday evening, June 24, 2010, at Wilson Hospital. Robert was born in Susquehanna, PA, the son of the late Leonard and Nettie Roe.

He was predeceased by his two brothers Leonard Jr. and Raymond; and three sisters Arlene, Lillian, and Beverly.

Robert was survived by a son Robert Gulley; three daughters, Genny Gulley, Tammy Roe Osterhout, and Julie Kreb; two sisters Beatrice, and Betty Ruth; three brothers Donald, William, and Frederick; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Pat Gulley, Bud Frisbee, Wayne Heath and many more.

Robert was employed at several places throughout the Southern Tier and Susquehanna, PA. He served in the United States Army in Germany and was honorably discharged. He enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, and mainly just tinkering around.

At the request of the family there will be no funeral service.

WARREN R. COONS

Warren R. Coons, 68, of New Milford, PA, passed away June 26, 2010 to join his son Alan (1969-1991). He is survived by his wife Joyce D. Coons of 44 years.

He was the beloved son of Richard and Dorothy Coons, brother to Nick Steprans, and had many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Warren retired from a career of 40 years in the Electro Plating Industry and was a member of the American Electroplaters Society. After retiring at 59, he operated the Craft Barrel Gift Shop in New Milford with his wife Joyce, where he enjoyed building things out of wood. He enjoyed life, fishing, shuffing, country music, watching Nascar races, and rebuilding old cars over the years. He served four years in the U.S. Navy.

The family will receive friends at The Peter P. Savage Funeral Home, 932 Main Street, New Milford, PA, Friday, July 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 3 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., following a short service.
