St. John’s Parish Celebrates Renovation

On Sunday, May 16, St. John the Evangelist Parish, Susquehanna, gathered for Evening Prayer to celebrate and showcase their newly renovated church. Pastor Fr. David Cramer welcomed the congregation and led the reading of several psalms. Former Pastor, Fr. Charles Connor, gave the homily. Charles Mulligan, Ambrose Mulligan, and Bob Burns were altar servers. St. John’s Choir and Folk Group provided music.

Charles Connor.

Fr. Connor gave a brief history of St. John’s and praised the Men’s Club for all the work they had done on the sanctuary floor. Having replaced the carpet with white marble, the men had labored diligently to have the work completed by the Easter Season. Through various fundraising events, the Men’s Club donated the funds needed for the project.

The entire church has been repainted a warm, buttery cream and bright blue. The ceiling above the sanctuary has a cloud motif, and white and gold trim the high arches leading down the nave. Many have complimented that the new color scheme makes the church, “brighter and more welcoming.”
