Jennifer Oliver Is Collegiate Scholar

The Pennsylvania State University – Jennifer Rae Oliver, of Hallstead accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored during a campus ceremony this fall at The Pennsylvania State University.

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is a highly selective, national, nonprofit honors organization. Founded in 1994, NSCS recognizes first and second year undergraduate students who excel academically.

The Society was established on the principle that with scholarship comes a responsibility to develop leadership and a duty to perform service.

Jennifer, a 2003 graduate of Montrose Area High School, has completed her first year at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, in the College of Health and Human Development, achieving the Dean’s List for both semesters. During the Fall semester, Jennifer participated in the Crew Team and Club Tennis. At the beginning of the Spring semester, she joined the Quantum Jujitsu Club which includes training in Martial Arts, Yoga and Shiatsu Restorational Massage. She also participated in Intramural Basketball during the Spring.

Jennifer is the daughter of Dora and Raymond Oliver, Hallstead.

Dana Rockwell Makes B U Dean's List

Dana Rockwell, Susquehanna, is on the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement for the Spring, 2004 semester by the Decker School of Nursing at Binghamton University.

The criteria for the Dean’s Honors list is a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

Erica Vogel Makes M U Dean's List

Erica J. Vogel, daughter of Michael and Teresa Vogel, Hallstead, was named to the Dean’s List at Marywood University for the Spring, 2004 semester. She is a junior Nutrition/Dietetics Major. Erica is a 2001 graduate of Montrose Area High School.

Jessica Griffith On S U Dean's List

Jessica Griffith, Hallstead, a senior majoring in music industry enrolled in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University was named to the Dean's List for the Spring, 2004 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

Local Students Make M U Dean's List

The following area students are among the 1,418 people who were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester, 2004 at Millersville University of Pennsylvania: Martina I. Soden, Starrucca; and Jeffrey A. Rood, Susquehanna. Both received grade point averages between 3.5 and 3.99 to achieve the honor.

Local Students Make M U Dean's List

Mansfield, PA – A total of 637 Mansfield University undergraduates have been named to the Spring, 2004 Dean’s List and President’s List.

To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be attending the university full-time and earn at least a 3.50. Of the students, 175 were also honored by inclusion on the President’s List. To receive this honor, a student must attain a perfect 4.0 average for the semester.

Locals Graduate Mansfield Univ.

Mansfield, PA – A total of 334 degrees were awarded during Mansfield University’s 140th commencement ceremonies in May, 2004.

Following are the names of the graduates from our area.

Elizabeth M. Bisel, Dimock, with a MS in General Education.

Loren R. Carpenter, Susquehanna, with a BS in Mass Communication, Broadcasting.

Stephen M. Janoski, Montrose, with a BA in History.

Kristina M. Shelly, Thompson, with a BSW in Social Work.

Several local students are included on the Shippensburg University Spring, 2004 Dean’s List. Students must earn a semester Quality Point Average of 3.30 or better to qualify.

Students from our area achieving the honor were: Christopher Lewis, Great Bend; Ashley Robinson, South Gibson; Heather Teed, Hallstead.

Local Students Make SRU Dean's List

Slippery Rock, PA – Slippery Rock University students from across Pennsylvania and the nation earned Dean’s List honors during spring semester, 2004 (ending May 8).

To qualify for the SRU Dean’s List, a student must earn a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a four-point scale, while taking 12 or more graded hours of course credit.

Students from the local area named to the list were: Stephanie M. DeVincentis, Hallstead; Adriane M. Carlson, Susquehanna.

Local Students Make U of S Dean's List

The University of Scranton, a Jesuit university in northeast Pennsylvania, has announced its Dean’s List, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the 2004 spring semester. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the Dean’s List.
