Thompson Baptist Wins Best Float

Thompson Baptist's Youth Group, dressed up in the colorful costumes of the CastleKids rode merrily down Thompson's Jackson Avenue in a flag bedecked wagon pulled by Matt Piercy on his bright red FarmAll tractor. The kids and float went on to win The Best Youth Group Float trophy !

Folks along the parade route were suddenly refreshed as the CastleKids sprayed water from water guns mounted on the sides of the float. It was a warm day and the spray did bring some relief from the heat.

Running along behind the float was a modern day Court Jester whose identity remains a secret, especially since his wife told him not to say a word, because the minute he opened his mouth all would know it was Earl Cottrell !

Later in the day the CastleKids Puppeteers put on a puppet show to entertain the throngs who were milling about on the fire hall grounds. The little skit was enjoyed by one and all.

"CastleKids Choosing to Serve the King" is this year's VBS theme at Thompson Baptist. The five day program will be held from July 26 to July 30, nine till noon with kids ages 4-12 all welcome.

VBS, Tent Meeting At Elkdale Baptist

The Elkdale Baptist Church will be having their annual Bible School and Tent Meeting Week, from July 11 -16 on the church grounds.

The Children’s Bible School will run simultaneously with the tent meetings, Monday through Friday from 7 - 8:30 p.m. The Theme of the Bible School will be "The Mysteries of Creation." Special skits, music, puppet shows, and awards will be presented. Children age 12 and under are invited to attend, and visiting children are welcome. Parents may inquire at (570) 222-3723 for more information.

Special outdoor tent meetings with Evangelist Bill Stewart and Evangelist Peter Accardi will be held Monday through Friday, at 7 p.m. Messages will be shared on "Eternal Truths for Confusing Times." Teens and adults will meet under the tent, and refreshments will be served after the meetings for the children and adult meetings.
