Overshadows The Bad News

I thought you might be interested in a "good" news story. Several times over the past six months elementary school student Meghan Gilhool, with help from Miss Tracy Dunn's first grade class at Lathrop St. Elementary and her parents have sent boxes of goodies and letters to soldiers in my son's unit in Iraq. They also sent school supplies to be given out to schools in northern Iraq by my son's unit. As if all of that wasn't enough, Meghan is now giving up her birthday presents and instead requesting that friends attending her July 10th birthday party bring donations of items for the soldiers that she and her mother will pack and mail to Iraq.

WOW, we are raising some wonderful kids in this area. With help from her school, parents, Jim and Dana Gilhool, Montrose, and grandparents Sandy and Tom Lathrop, Montrose, Jerry Meyers, Springville and Harold and Jean Gilhool of Montrose this young girl has learned the true meaning of patriotism and helping others. What a fine example of values being instilled by family and the community.

I hope this "good news" item over shadows some of the bad news we hear everyday.

Sincerely.

Brenna and Bill Aileo
