Tech. Sgt. Stacey M. Tansits
Air Force Tech. Sgt. Stacey M. Tansits has deployed to an overseas forward operating location to support the missions of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
Enduring Freedom is the official name given to the biggest U.S. military mobilization since the Gulf War in 1991. Members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces have been deployed and reserve components activated to support the war against global terrorism, combating the international terrorist network or regime forces outside the United States.
Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving U.S. and coalition forces efforts to disarm and end the current Iraqi regime and eliminate its weapons of mass destruction, weapons production capabilities and weapons delivery systems, as well as reduce the danger and threat of Iraqi use of chemical and biological agents. Mission objectives include liberating the Iraqi people from an oppressive dictatorial rule of government, preserve Iraq as a unified state and keep its territorial integrity intact. The operation's goal is to assist the Iraqi people begin the process of economic and political reconstruction.
In addition, she has been selected for promotion to master sergeant.
Stacey is the daughter of Fred N. and Linda L. Black of Davis Lane, Hustontown, PA.
Her husband, Mark, is the son of Frank L. and Sally Tansits of Rural Route 1, Kingsley, PA.
The technical sergeant graduated in 1988 from Forbes Road Junior Senior High School, Harrisonville, Pa., and received an associate degree in 1996 from the Community College of the Air Force.
Joseph S. Travis, Jr.
Navy Fireman Joseph S. Travis, Jr., son of Bonne C. and Joseph S. Travis of New Milford, PA, recently made a port visit to Jebel Ali and Dubai while on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, homeported in San Diego.
Joseph is one of more than 6,000 Pacific Fleet Sailors and Marines aboard the ships of the USS Nimitz Carrier Battle Group.
Joseph is a 2001 graduate of Blue Ridge High School, and joined the Navy in July, 2001.
