TUESDAYS:

COMMUNITY CHORUS: Due to scheduling conflicts, the Susquehanna Community Chorus will meet on Tuesdays at 7:00pm instead of Mondays at 7:30pm. Practices will be held at St. John's Hall until July 17. On July 17 we will move to Susquehanna Community High School. Our concert will be held on Sunday, July 22 at 3:00pm at the Susquehanna Community High School Auditorium. It is not too late to join our group. Anyone who is interested, please come to our next practice.

JULY 7

SUMW FESTIVAL: The Shehawken United Methodist Women's annual festival will be, rain or shine, at the Shehawken United Methodist Church, Dixie Highway & Scott Center Road, Starrucca. Saturday, 11:00am - 1:00pm, featuring deli/bake sale, handmade craft items and much more. Proceeds benefit the Women's Mission Projects.

ID4 CELEBRATION: Thompson Hose Co. holds Annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday. Chicken BBQ starts 11:00am, Parade at 11:30am, Keystone Jukebox 12pm-5pm, Lone Ryderz Band 6pm-10pm. Fireworks at 10pm; rain date of Sunday at 10pm. Variety of food, games, bounce house, dunk tank, bingo, and crafters.

LAVENDER FEST: Annual Lavender Festival, 11am-4pm at the Self Discovery Wellness Arts Center, 200 Lake Ave, Montrose. Enjoy lavender goodies such as ice cream, chocolates and baked goods, along with raffle baskets, music and drumming. Free admission. Children welcome with adult supervision. No pets and no smoking. MIDSUMMER FAIR: 7th Annual New Milford Midsummer Fair at Green Gables. Craft Fair/Flea Market at 8am, vendors wanted. Cornhole Tournament at 9am. PARSE: The Endless Mountains Chapter of the PA Association of Retired State Employees will meet at  noon on Tuesday, at the Green Gables Picnic area for their annual Chicken BBQ. JULY 13-14

BLUEGRASS: Bring your instrument Saturday, 12pm - 10pm to Grovedale Winery, 71 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing. Performing are: Sideline, Mama Corn, Mark Miklos and Jesse Alexander. JULY 14

USED BOOK SALE: Sponsored by the Harford Historical Society, Saturday, 9am - 2pm, at Soldiers Orphan School, 2238 Orphan School Road, Kingsley. Also see historical exhibits in dormitory school used for Civil War orphans from 1865 to 1902. There is no charge for viewing exhibits.

JULY 18

CHICKEN/HAM DINNER: At the Clifford United Methodist Church on Main Street. Chicken-n-Biscuit or Ham Dinner from 4 – 6pm. Take out or dine in. Donation includes dinner, drink and dessert.

JULY 18-21

SUSQUEHANNA HOMETOWN DAYS: Wed: music by Brass Majors at 6:30pm. Thurs: music by She's A Spy at 8pm, Idol Contest – single act, ages 10-18, sign-up at 5:45pm. Fri: music by The Look at 7pm, Parade at 6:30, line-up at Susky High School 6pm. Sat: 5k Run/Walk at 9am, register by 7am; Carnival matinee at 3pm, music by Outcold at 7pm.

JULY 21

SIDEWALK SALE: Townwide sidewalk sale in Susquehanna. All stores and food vendors welcome. Free set up. 5K Run/Walk at 9am from the school. Hometown Day rides open at 3pm. An SCDA event.

YARD/BAKE SALE: Saturday, 8:00am-2:00pm, under the tent at Colonial Brick Inn and Suites, Route 11, Great Bend. To benefit: Gill Chapter #12, Order of the Eastern Star.

JULY 22

COMMUNITY CHORUS: The Susquehanna Community Chorus will be performing this summer as part of Hometown Days. The concert will be on Sunday, July 22 at 3:00pm at the Susquehanna Community High School Auditorium.

AUGUST 4

TRAIL DAY BBQ: Saturday, during the festivities in Forest City, Christ Church, located at the corner of Dundaff and Delaware Streets, will hold a Chicken BBQ dinner 3:00pm-6:00pm. Limited tickets available. To purchase, leave a call-back message at 570-785-3425 for Christ Church members or from various businesses throughout town.

AUGUST 5

MUSIC IN THE PARK: Sunday, at the Clifford Fireman's Fairgrounds, Route 106. 10:30am Worship Service followed by Contemporary/Traditional Christian Music until 5pm, rain or shine. Fun for the whole family. Refreshments available. For more information, call 570-679-2766.

Monday: Baked Fish in Parsley Butter, Stewed Tomato, Steamed Broccoli, Macaroni and Cheese, Rocky Road Pudding.

Tuesday: Chicken Parmesan, Green Bean Almondine, Tossed Salad, Spaghetti, Chocolate Mousse.

Wednesday: Swiss Steak, Sauteed Zucchini and Squash, Mashed Potato, Dinner Roll, Orange.

Thursday: Ham with Pineapple Sauce, Asian Vegetable Medley, Steamed Carrots, Brown Rice, Peach Crisp.

Friday: Turkey Hot Brown Sandwich, Chicken Wild Rice Soup, Balsamic Tomato and Cucumber Salad, Strawberries and Cream.

Community Dinner Changes Announced

The community dinners previously scheduled for the month of July at the Susquehanna United Methodist Church, have been canceled due to the Fourth of July holiday, Hometown Days, members' vacations and a wedding scheduled at the church.

Please mark the following dates on your calendar:

There will be only one community dinner for the month of August, due to Labor Day, etc. which is scheduled for Saturday, August 18th and one for the month of September, held on Saturday, September 15th.

We sincerely thank you for understanding these changes and we hope to see you on these dates to enjoy a delicious meal, served with friendship and a smile.

NWTF Bingo For Wildlife Planned

The Wilson F. Moore Memorial (WFMM) chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) will be running a Ruger Bingo event on Saturday, July 29th. The event will have 20 games of gun bingo and two specials. The event will run from 12pm to 5pm (doors open at 12 and bingo begins at 1pm). Food and beverages will be available from the Susquehanna Education Association. This Ruger Gun Bingo will be held at the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs New Milford Readiness Center, 3003 State Route 492, New Milford, PA, 1.5 miles east of New Milford.

WFMM NWTF President Al Cuevas noted, "Gun Bingo events are hot right now and this promises to be a good event, with good guns such as American Predator 308 Winchester, American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor, Black Hawk 357 EC9 9mm plus others. Our group will use the funds raised from this event for several of our youth events, such as sending a student to the Pennsylvania Wildlife Leadership Academy's Gobbler field school, the Jakes event with the Susquehanna County Federation of Sportsmen's clubs, a Youth Pheasant hunt at Salt Springs State Park and to support the Pennsylvania Game Commission's work on local State Game Lands".

Rules for the event are as follows: must be 21 years of age or older to play; must be able to pass a Federal Background Check to have the firearm transferred to the winner; failure to pass the background check will result in forfeiture of the prize and entry fees; the name on the ticket must match the name of the person receiving the firearm; winner must have a valid ID, with the correct address, to perform the background check; there will be a $10 fee per gun collected by the Reel Field Sports (FFL Dealer) for performing the background checks; no alcohol permitted; any decisions made by the staff of Reel Field Sports and/or the Wilson F. Moore Memorial Chapter Officers and Board members are final.

Craft Fair Picnic For Area Seniors

The Susquehanna County Senior Centers of B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. will host a Craft Fair Picnic in the Williams Pavilion at Salt Springs State Park on July 20, 2018 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Participants will be able watch and/or participate in demonstrations, shop for crafts from multiple vendors, play games, participate in basket raffles, as well as enjoy a free picnic lunch. Adults 60 and over are cordially invited to attend this fun, free event. Transportation will be available through Susquehanna Wyoming County Transportation (SWCT). Community Meal And Summer Fun

Children ages 3-99 are welcome to join in the fun at this year's Vacation Bible School at the South Gibson United Methodist Church. The theme is Abundance Orchard – Where Faith Grows and Hungry People are Fed. Join the fun, July 10-12th from 5-8pm. The theme of VBS culminates with a free meal for the community on Saturday, July 14th from 4:30-6:30pm. Hot dogs, hamburgers and all the salads and fixings, plus dessert and snow cones, are on the menu. All are welcome. Join us for relaxing conversation and a chance to get to know your neighbors better. Call Cathy Wilcox, at 570-756-3044 to preregister your youngsters for VBS today.

Join us for worship, potluck lunch and fellowship at our annual "Church Under the Tree", in the backyard of the church on July 29th, beginning at 10:30am. Bring a camp chair and a dish to share and join the fun. Hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages will be provided.

If you're looking for something to do in August to help cool things down, we're having a free Ice Cream Social and Movie Night on August 18th. Ice Cream, Popcorn and lots of fun.

Looking ahead to Fall, Sunday School will resume in September at 9:15am. We will have our annual Harvest Dinner on October 6th. On October 13th, we will have a very important Mental Health First Aid Training, from 8am – 5pm. Instructors from the Mental Wellness Awareness Association, Inc. will present the Basic Adult Mental Health First Aid Class. On November 3rd, a free "Stop the Bleed" training will be held, from 10am to noon. Instructors from the Geisinger Community Medical Center will present this vital training. Look for more information about how to register for these classes in upcoming months.

South Gibson UMC has Sunday Worship at 10:30am each Sunday. A weekly Spiritual Renewal Group is held each Wednesday at 7pm, in our sister church, Gibson UMC. Weekly Open AA meetings are held each Thursday at South Gibson UMC.
