SCCTC SkillsUSA In State Competitions
The SCCTC sent 21 secondary and post-secondary students to compete in the SkillsUSA Leadership conference in Hershey, April 18-20, 2018. All 21 students placed first in their respective competitions at the district level.

SkillsUSA prepares students with the technical and leadership skills necessary to excel in the workforce. The SkillsUSA Creed promotes beliefs in the dignity of work, in the American way of life, in education, in fair play, that satisfaction is achieved by good work and in high moral and spiritual standards. Each of these members have accepted the SkillsUSA Creed and their success is a testament to the power of positive beliefs.
Dr. Alice M. Davis, Executive Director of the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center, would like to thank all the instructors and support staff who worked alongside each student and helped prepare them for their competitions. Jeremy Crayton Gets Phi Kappa Phi Honors
Jeremy Crayton of New Milford, Pennsylvania, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Crayton was initiated at Pennsylvania State University.
Crayton is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Olivia Vosburg Gets Cazenovia Honor
Olivia Vosburg of Meshoppen, PA was honored at Cazenovia College's 15th Annual Student Leaders Celebration. Vosburg was inducted to the Sigma Alpha Pi National Society for Leadership and Success.
The event recognized the remarkable contributions students, staff, and faculty made to enrich the Cazenovia College experience. Those honored play various roles and contribute in different ways to creating a positive campus-life environment.

Sarah Longacre Gets Pre-Grad Hiring
Sarah Longacre, a senior at Bob Jones University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in English education, was hired before graduation as an English teacher at Faith Christian School in Clinton, Michigan. Longacre is a resident of Hallstead.

Susky Students Get DeWitt Scholarship

The DeWitt Family Healthcare Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that two scholarships for graduating seniors from Susquehanna Community High School have been awarded. Ms. Bridget Iveson is receiving a scholarship to assist her in attending Binghamton University where she plans to major in Neuroscience. Ms. Morgan Rivenburg is receiving a scholarship to assist her in attending SUNY Broome where she plans to major in health sciences with the ultimate goal of becoming a radiology technician.

Bridget is the daughter of Mike and Kelly Iveson of Susquehanna, PA. Bridget has been an active member of the Student Council, as well as National Honor Society, the Envirothon Club, the Student Mentor Program, and the Kane Competition. She also participated in a variety of sports such as volleyball, softball, and basketball.
Morgan is the daughter of Leslie Rivenburg, also of Susquehanna, PA. Morgan was a member of the Student Mentor Program, and an active member in the Pay it Forward Club, where she was the student leader of the Sabers Community Closet. Morgan took on a leadership role where she helped to collect, organize and distribute gently used clothing to students in need.
