She was a member of the Erie Hose Ladies Auxilary and the Baptist Church in Susquehanna. Her favorite pastime was watching baseball and she loved the Boston Redsox.
She lost vision in one eye at age 5 and fought 78 years to be able to see at all, but did quite well at cooking. Angela and Nicole saw her as Mom, as she raised them. Nicole really loved her and would ask her to make roast beef dinner with Yorkshire Pudding.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Loretta's life was held on May 5th at the American Legion in Susquehanna, where her husband, Herbie was Sergeant of Arms for over 20 years. The day was enjoyed by many friends and family, with music that Loretta loved.
She came home for Easter and got to enjoy it with her sister, Alice and nieces, Debra Cook and Pam Whitmore for her last Holiday at home with family.
She was aware to hear The Lord's Prayer and her last words to her son were, "I love you, too". She wanted to thank the doctors and nurses at Lourdes and Barnes Kasson Hospitals for their kindness and care. Her son would like to thank Pastor Dan of Ararat and her nurse, Colleen King of Susquehanna, for the hug she gave him as he was all alone. Loretta was a tough woman and never had an easy life. People often asked about her, as she was loved by many, but rarely got out because of her eyes and health.
Her ashes will be home and in the Lanesboro Cemetery next to her husband, who passed in 1988.
May she rest in peace... May God bless her forever and ever... Amen.
