Halloween is the season for scares and horror movies. Students at Mt. View High School are getting ready for their fall play, “Horror Movie 101”, by Steven Stack. The play spoofs those tried and true clichés, such as “don’t pick up anyone on the side of a dark and lonely road”.
The play features 5 short vignettes, each one spoofing a different cliché. In “Heirlooms”, the characters are fond of some rather unusual family heirlooms and their effect on others. “The Girl on the Side of the Road” tells what happens when you pick up someone and take them home to Mother. “The One” features a group of friends who visit a haunted house, only to find all is not what it seems. In “Isolation”, friends deal with a zombie-inducing virus. Lastly, “David and Delaney’s Guide to the Perfectly Nifty Prom”, a newly back-from-the dead girl hopes to attend the prom she and her best friend have meticulously planned since age 6, only to discover that those plans may have changed a bit.
The cast features students in grades 7-12. Performances will be held on Friday, November 3 and Saturday November 4 in the Norman J. Maza Auditorium of Mt. View High School, 11749 State Route 106, Kingsley. All seats are $5.
