Park Guide To Speak At Dinner
Submitted By Bob Wagner
Sandy Babuka, Nature Guide and Tour Bus Driver at Denali National Park will be the guest speaker at the annual Susquehanna County Forest Land Owners Association (SCFLOA) forestry November meeting. The dinner meeting will be held on November 17, 2017 at the Harford Volunteer Fire Company Fire Hall, Harford, Pa.

Sandy Babuka
Mrs. Babuka works during the summer months (late May to early September) at Alaska’s Denali National Park. She is one of the few authorized bus drivers/tour guides that can work there. Sandy will give a thought-provoking talk and slide show on the land, flora and fauna around and along the road to Denali. She, “I believe in footprints only. Our earth is the only one we have...we are an ever growing population and must allow for sustainability with our natural resources. If everyone did their part, took baby steps to conserve and understand the intense need for natural sustainability - we can make a positive difference - just as easy as we can make a negative difference!”
SCFLOA Board member Bill Bayne noted, “I heard Sandy speak at several 2017 winter meetings at Salt Springs State Park, to overflow crowds, and thought that she would be a good speaker for our forestry group meeting. She captivated the audiences who left wishing she had more time to speak and show scenes from in and around Denali National Park.”
Sandy, a graduate of Elmira College currently lives in the Susquehanna area.
The event doors open at 6:15pm, social time with ‘hors d’oeuvres’ begins at 6:30pm, dinner served at 7:00pm. The menu is a full roast beef dinner prepared by the volunteers of the Harford Volunteer Fire Co. The dinner will be topped off with the selection of the wildly popular and delicious homemade pies from the North Jackson Methodist Church women’s group. Dinner tickets include homemade dessert and presentation.
Guests/non-SCFLOA members are welcome to attend the dinner. Seating is limited to 70 people. Reservations must be made and no later than November 13th with: Doug Sheldon, SCFLOA at 570-906-0913; email: dougsheldon@gmail.com.
