Sights, Scents, Sounds Of SCCTC

The 2017-18 schoolyear is well underway at the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center. A walk around the grounds of the SCCTC includes the sounds of hammers pounding in Carpentry, the high pitched sounds of the air tools in automotive, the incredible scent of freshly prepared food from the restaurant and of course in cosmetology one can see haircuts, hair coloring, manicures and more. The sights, scents and sounds are not normally present in a traditional school setting, but they are normal in a career and technology center. At the SCCTC students experience real life hands-on training and the excitement is overwhelming.

The SCCTC is the main source of Career & Technical Education for all of Susquehanna County and parts of Wyoming County. They offer a number of educational opportunities to high school students and adults to enable them to become life-long learners, productive citizens, and responsible members of society.

Programs of Study currently include: Automotive Technology, Carpentry & Cabinetmaking, Electrical, Plumbing and Heating, Accounting, Administrative Assistant/ Secretarial Science, Cosmetology, Food Management /Production & Services, Health Care Technology, Welding Technology, Vehicle (Small Engine) Maintenance & Repair Technology, Auto body Collision & Repair Technology, Criminal Justice/ Police Science and Cooperative Education/Diversified Occupations. In addition to these high school programs which are also available to adults, in 2013, Practical Nurse and Massage Therapy were added to our adult offerings. There is also an extensive list of adult certification courses such as PA Automotive Safety Inspection, Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting and OSHA training, as well as ServSafe Classes for food service employees.  Please check the website (www.scctc-school.org) for a complete listing.

Presently, seven area schools send students to SCCTC programs .These schools include Blue Ridge, Elk Lake, Lackawanna Trail, Montrose Area, Mountain View, Susquehanna Community and Tunkhannock Area High School.
