Pet of the Week

Arthur

Even though he was wearing a pink flowered headband, Arthur was thrilled to be out and about to strut his stuff at our Woofstock festival. This adorable, well behaved, fun loving, gentle boy is only 2yrs old, neutered, UTD and housebroken. What a loyal and loving companion he would make! Like his namesake "King Arthur", this handsome and rather magnificent mutt deserves to be treated like royalty and is sure to be the ruler of your heart. Won't you stop in and meet Arthur and see if you have a comfy round bed to offer him and make him yours?

Like so many of his other buddies lucky enough to attend Woofstock, Arthur had a blast mixing and mingling and taking in all the sites. From the bottom of our furry hearts, thank you to all who took part in this extraordinary celebration to help keep our doors open. We hope both people and their pooches made it a memorable day. True Friends is so fortunate to have the greatest supporters and the cutest pups attend every year. Until Woofstock 2018, we wish you a year of Peace,Love and Drool.

Team Takes Swing At Lyme Disease

Former Elk Lake softball and soccer player Amanda Mowry was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in July of 2014. She has been battling it for the past three years. This year her traveling softball team (Southern Tier Smoke 18u) decided to raise money in her honor. Together they raised over $400 to be donated to Lyme Disease Coalition, Inc. out of Montrose, PA. The team sold T-shirts with a Lyme disease pitching ribbon in her honor. “It’s great to be part of a team (family) that really cares about you”, Mowry stated. They also asked their parents to donate a dollar amount between $2 and $9 (her number) for each win the team had in nationals.

Sunday, August 13th Amanda donated the money to the Lyme Disease Coalition, Inc.  “It’s great to be able to give something back to help more people realize just how bad Lyme Disease is. “I’m glad I get to be part of that,” said Mowry.

The Founders of the Lyme Disease Coalition were extremely happy to receive the donation.

“This is a very generous act from such a young athlete. This will help us greatly with our efforts to make people more aware of this terrible disease,” Colleen Schake stated. “We are trying to educate people on this terrible disease and way to try to prevent people from getting it. Every bit helps. Thank you Amanda and to the Southern Tier Smoke team for all you have done.”

Mowry will be starting College this fall at Lackawanna College. She will be playing softball for the Lady Falcons.
