More Susky High School Seniors Biographies

EDITORS NOTE: Here are some more biographies of seniors at Susquehanna Community High School.

Briana Monique Ferrante

Homer Ferrante III and Tina Ferrante are the parents of Briana Monique Ferrante. She was born on October 15, 1998. Her dad made a huge impact on her life; unfortunately he passed away when she was eight. When she was younger she won many medals when competing in cheer competitions. Ferrante has done SADD, yearbook, NEIU reading competition, drama, football cheer and wrestling cheer.

She is currently living with her mother and three siblings. Her mother is the person she looks up to the most because she is always there for her, offering her a lot of advice and teaching her about life. Briana has a cat named Lucky. She attends Susquehanna Community High School and is a senior. In her free time she likes to read and listen to music. “The truth is you don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed,” is her favorite quote by Eminem. She likes Eminem because he's been through a ton of negative situations and he still came out on top.

In the future she plans to attend college to get her master's degree in Nursing. She would like to work somewhere in the hospital, or go into the FBI and work in the behavioral analysis unit.

Evan Christopher Haley

Evan Christopher Haley was born November 23, 1998 and is the son of Chad and Crissie Haley. He has attended the Susquehanna Community School District for thirteen years. As a student, he has won the Ray A. Kroc Youth Achievement Award and the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence. He is actively involved in Envirothon, Student Council, National Honor Society, Mentoring Program, Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program and Pay it Forward. Outside of school, he participates in 4-H and community service projects. He also plays varsity football and baseball for Susquehanna.

Haley’s favorite quote is, “Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible,” by Francis of Assisi because he feels that if everybody followed this advice then amazing things could be accomplished by everyone. His most influential experience is participating in the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program; the program empowered him and gave him a sense that he could better the world through kindness and giving back to the community. Haley found the lab experiments interesting in dual chemistry, making it his favorite class. His advice for future students is, “Enjoy your time in high school and participate in as many clubs as you can. You will get the most out of high school and you will enjoy it if you participate.”

He plans on attending Johns Hopkins University majoring in biochemistry and pursuing a career as a neurologist. He is also planning on playing division three baseball.

Gabrielle Glover

Gabrielle Glover is a senior at Susquehanna Community High School. She was born Friday, August 13, 1999 to Todd and Sharon Glover. Gabrielle has an older half-brother, Andrew Burdick and a younger sister, Jordyn Glover. She began her schooling at Susquehanna Community Elementary School in kindergarten and has been a student in the district ever since.

In elementary school Gabrielle made many memories, but there is one she will never forget. When she was in the sixth grade, a classmate hid in the closet for the whole class, and came out ten minutes before it was over. When he was questioned about where he came from, he answered, “The bathroom,” while standing next to the closet. Some of Gabrielle’s achievements are merit/ honor roll making the softball second team all-district, and leading her softball team with the highest batting average in the spring of her junior year.

Gabrielle has participated in many sports during her life including softball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, dance and basketball cheerleading. She still participates in volleyball, softball and cheerleading. One of the most influential people in her life is William Szili. He has been a part of her life since she entered high school. Mr. Szili constantly pushed Gabrielle to better herself in school, sports and other parts of her life. He was always there for her in some of the hardest times that she went through during high school. One of Gabrielle’s favorite quotes is by Joe Girard, “The elevator to success is out of order. You’ll have to use the stairs, one step at a time,” because it keeps her positive and working hard. Some advice she would like to give to the underclassmen is, “Always do your work, it makes high school life a little less stressful.”

Gabrielle is planning to begin her schooling at Penn State Worthington Scranton or another Penn State School and then finishing at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Eventually, she would like to permanently move to Boone, North Carolina.

John James Abruzzo

John James Abruzzo IV was born March 20, 1999. Johnny is the son of Pamela Evans Abruzzo Benson and John Abruzzo III. He grew up in Annapolis, Maryland and moved to Susquehanna at the beginning of the 4th grade. He attended St. Margaret’s and Windsor Farm prior to Susquehanna. He has participated in baseball, basketball, concert band, cross-country, soccer, track and field and pep band throughout his high school career. In his sophomore year, he joined the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program, which he is still heavily involved in.

Currently, Abruzzo is very excited for his government class, because it works with what he wants to do for a living. He works at Elk Mountain Ski Resort in the Rental Shop. He also helps out with his family’s farm/bed and breakfast/wedding venue. Five things he cannot leave the house without include his wallet, keys, mobile device, watch and his “cool socks.” Some advice he has for the underclassmen, is “To earn the best grades possible while you can, it’ll make junior and senior year so much easier.”

During his senior year in high school, Abruzzo is determined to get accepted to a top-pick college. “I would like to attend the University of North Carolina and major in International Relations. I want to try to find a career that coincides with my love of travel”. He hopes to find a profession where he can work with the governments of different countries around the world. “If the University of North Carolina doesn’t work out, I will go for my parents alma mater, University of Maryland.” Abruzzo will continue to follow his passion of traveling.
