Blue Ridge Elementary held the second annual book character pumpkin decorating contest. Classes could paint; add construction paper, recycled materials or other props so the pumpkin matched a favorite book character.

The winners (pictured) are: 1st place-Rainbow Fish by Mrs. Markarian’s kindergarten class; 2nd place- Duck for President by Mrs. Rhone’s kindergarten class; and 3rd place-Miss Nelson is Missing by Ms. Kogut’s second grade class. All classes who participated will get an extra book check-out from the elementary library and prizes for the top three classes.
The pumpkins were judged on creativity, use of recycled materials, relevance to the book, teamwork and presentation. Classrooms picked a story related to curriculum this month and all of the students had a part in decorating. All of the 11 entries were fantastic and the judges had a difficult time picking winners!
