Frank I. Bliss

Frank I. Bliss, 86, of Hallstead, PA entered into rest peacefully on August 11, 2016 at home.  He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Wells Bliss.

Frank is also survived by three children, Laurie Gili, Donald Bliss, and Jennifer Bliss; a granddaughter, Carli Hegedus; two grandsons, Jacob Bliss and Jordan Bliss; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Grayson, and Bailey Hegedus; two sisters, Margaret Mogridge and Dorothy (Crane) Rock; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by sons, Frank Patrick Bliss and infant, Scott; and a brother, Henry Bliss.

Frank retired from Agway Petroleum.  He served with the US Army during Korea.  Frank was a life member of the American Legion Post #357, a member of the NRA, a life and charter member of the New Milford Riffle and Pistol Club.  Frank was an avid outdoorsman and hunter.  He enjoyed going on trips to see the elks.  Frank was an excellent husband, wonderful father, and an adoring grandfather. 

A funeral service was held Monday August 15, 2016 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA.

Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in his memory may take the form of a donation to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.

Lorraine Viola Westcott Leet

Lorraine Viola Westcott Leet, 91 of Honesdale, died peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family on August 6, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Harold Leet in 2013. They were married in 1948.

Lorraine was born February 24, 1925 in Susquehanna, PA, the daughter of the late Pearl Craft Westcott Carl.

She graduated from Susquehanna High School and Booth Memorial Hospital in New York where she became a Practical Nurse in 1946. She graduated from Wayne Commercial School in 1974, and earned her Pennsylvania State License for Practical Nursing in 1984.

Lorraine was a member of the Seelyville Fire Company Auxillary, the Central United Methodist Church and the Honesdale High School Band Mothers.

She enjoyed activities with friends including golfing, cross country skiing, walking and snowmobiling. She especially loved laughing over food and dessert with friends and family.

Lorraine maintained a lifelong interest in the care and development of young children. She was known among family and friends for her excellent chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, and tapioca pudding which she loved to share. She also enjoyed knitting afghans and baby blankets.

Lorraine is survived by five children: Norman C. Leet of Waynesville, OH, Martha Leet Clister and her husband Dave of Pittsburgh, PA, Chris H. Leet of Honesdale, Lois J. Leet of Napa CA, Elaine G. Leet of Norlina, NC; grandchildren, Roy D. Carrick of Tyler Hill, C. Bruce Carrick and his wife Sharon of Honesdale, Jackie Clister Althoff and her husband Stefan of Reilingen, Germany, and Terri Clister of San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren, Lena and Lukas Althoff, Kailyn, Andrew, and Abiagael Carrick, Connor, Dixon, Clara, and Sierra Carrick; a sister, Jane Wescott Kiely of Fairport, NY.

She was also preceded in death by siblings, Elroy Westcott, Willard Westcott, Jeanette Westcott Lowe, and John Westcott.

A memorial service was held Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 6:30 PM in the Wesley Room of the Central United Methodist Church, Honesdale with the Rev. Rob Kazinski officiating.

Interment will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.

Those wishing to make a donation in Lorraine Leet's memory are asked to give to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, PA 18431.

Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.

George W. (Bill) Burdick III

George W. (Bill) Burdick III of Oakland, PA passed away suddenly and peacefully at Barnes-Kasson Hospital on August 10, 2016. George was 67 years old and is predeceased in death by his father, George in 2008 and mother, Joyce (Perry) Burdick in 2007 also from Oakland, PA.

George is survived by his sister, J. Marie and her husband Laren Curtis, Oakland, PA, brother, Jon Charles Burdick, Oakland, PA, brother, Kevin P. and his wife, Anita Burdick, Hillcrest, NY, sister, Connie and her husband, Craig Gordon, Littlestown, PA. Also surviving are many nephews and nieces.

George graduated from the Susquehanna Community High School,  Class of 1966 and immediately enrolled in Broome Community College where he obtained his A.A.S. degree as a Mechanical Engineer. Upon graduation from BCC, he obtained immediate employment at Carrier Air Conditioning  Corp. in Syracuse, NY where he lived and worked for over 35 years becoming a valued employee while receiving many accolades and awards for his dedication and professionalism to that company.  After retirement he returned to his family home in Oakland, where he has resided for the last 6 years. 

George was an avid fan of anything pertaining to Syracuse University sports and the New York Giants football team.  He enjoyed boating, golfing, skiing and NASCAR racing.  We could always count on him to be by the fire at our family camp flipping the burgers and hotdogs.  He was a great horseshoe player also.

The family would like to thank the Ambulance Crew, the ER staff, the CNA’s, nurses and doctors on both the Second Floor Med-Surg unit and the Skilled Nursing Facility at Barnes-Kasson Hospital during his brief stay there.  We can’t say thank you enough for your professionalism and dedication to our brother’s care that you provided for him during his stay. 

George’s wishes were for private funeral arrangements with Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA and interment is at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Great Bend, PA.

A big thank you also  to the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home for expediting George’s funeral arrangements and making this as easy as possible during this time of family grieving.

Memorial Service

There will be a memorial service held for Paul Skasko in Lanesboro, PA, at the First Baptist Church, Jackson Ave, Susquehanna, PA on Saturday, August 20h at 11am. Directly following the service a luncheon will be help at the church.
