Reading Time At Viewmont Mall

Celebrity readers, entertaining characters, and a free book to take home is what the Northeastern Pennsylvania Reading Association (NPRA) will provide for kids and their families during Reading Time at the Mall. The event is on Saturday, August 20th in the center court at the Viewmont Mall celebrating Back to School by the Mall. From 10 AM to 2 PM that day, this free event for children of all ages I scheduled to enjoy listening to TV and radio celebrity readers and children’s authors. Community personalities will also read their favorite children’s book to groups. Every child who listens to a story receives a free book and his/her name is part of a special drawing by the reader for additional book prizes.

Attorney Paul Keeler, District Judge from the Abingtons, will be one of the celebrity readers, authors, characters, and team mascots who will read to children and their parents at “Reading Time at the Viewmont Mall.”

There will be a basket raffle for a large beautifully wrapped basket of back to school supplies as a part of the event. Money raised by NPRA is used to distribute free books to children, sponsor Babies and Books, present Young Authors’ Day in November, as well as to present professional development sessions for teachers throughout the year. The association is a professional organization dedicated to improving and promoting literacy serving over thirty school districts, colleges, universities, libraries and child care providers in Lackawanna, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.

So parents, plan to bring your kids to the mall on Saturday for them to enjoy Reading Time at the Mall, get a free book of their choice, and to get a jump start on the beginning of school.
