Update On 5K Run/Walk
Submitted By Nancy Narma
With about a month left to go, the Susquehanna Community Development Association, in coordination with the Borough of Susquehanna Depot, would like to remind you about the “Third Annual 5K RUN/WALK” that is scheduled, as a special part of “Hometown Days”, to commence on July 23rd. If you participated in 2015, you are aware of how much fun, camaraderie and friendship is afoot on the streets of our fair Borough.
The “Start location” is at the Susquehanna Community School grounds, 3192 Turnpike Street, Susquehanna, Pa., with the “Finish line” located at the Borough Building, 83 Erie Boulevard, Susquehanna. This year’s “Big News” is the recently purchased Electronic Timing System which will give instant race results. A transportation van will be provided, courtesy of Barnes-Kasson Hospital, so you may park either at the school or the borough building. Pre-Registration is due by July 14th, 2016, but, don’t worry, you can sign-in/register starting promptly at 7:00 am on the 23rd, where you will pick up your race bib. A free T-shirt will be given to the first 150 runners/walkers to register. The starting pistol will sound at 9:00 am.

Let's exceed the numbers from 2015
There are sixteen age categories within the 5K RUN/WALK. They are: MALES-Age 0-12, Age 13-19, Age 20-29, Age 30-39, Age 40-49, Age 50-59, Age 60-69 and Age 70+; FEMALES - Age 0-12, Age 13-19, Age 20-29, Age 30-39, Age 40-49, Age 50-59, Age 60-69 and Age 70+. There are even prizes for "Top Runner/Walker with Stroller" and "Top Runner/Walker with Pet (Dog)--Note: All Dogs must be licensed and on leashes for the 5K Run/Walk. Prizes for this year's 5K Run/Walk will be beautiful Bluestone Train Cars. A popular feature from last year’s race has been included again this year with the group challenge. Would your office or, perhaps an organization you belong to, be up for a challenge and a prize of $100.00 to be shared? A group can even share $50.00 for a second place win. Well, if this is so, gather your gang together and sign up. The non-profit group with the most participants wins $100.00 and bragging rights for their group. The only stipulation is that there must be a minimum of 5 people to qualify as a group. Participants representing your organization or office would include members, member’s children, grandchildren, parents, friends, etc. As a group, you may pre-register, but group members’ names will be taken all together on the morning of the tace. All proceeds will benefit the S.C.D.A. programs and events within the community of Susquehanna Depot. Registration forms may be downloaded from the Borough’s website at: www.susquehannaborough.com . If you have questions, concerns or need additional information, please call: 570-853-3235.
