Sharon Elaine Kavetski

Sharon Elaine Kavetski, 74, of Gibson, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on her birthday, Thursday afternoon, February 18, 2016.

She was the wife of the late Frank G. Kavetski, III. who died March 17, 2012.

Born February 18, 1942 in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Grace Brown.

She was a member of the first graduating class of Mountain View High School in 1960 and was a very active member of the South Gibson United Methodist Church.  She was a very caring and loving person, who was loved by many.
She enjoyed riding her ATV in search of wildlife, watching the deer in her backyard, and the birds at her birdfeeder.

She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards.  For many years, she enjoyed dressing in costume and getting in the spirit for Halloween.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Melanie Kavetski; grandson and girlfriend, Bradley Kavetski and

Mindy York; great-grandson, Bennett Kavetski; granddaughter and fiance, Shannon Kavetski and Nathan Decker; sister, Carol Robinson and husband Roger, brother, Larry Brown and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Martin Kavetski, sister, Pamela Herbert, brother-in-law, Ronald Kavetski and sister-in-law, Patricia Brown.

A memorial service was held at the South Gibson United Methodist Church, 2839 State Route 2067, South Gibson, celebrated by Pastor Marge McCarty, officiating.

Spring inurnment will be in, Harford Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA.

Frances Jean Matis

Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away!....On February 13, 2016 ...Frances Jean (Chickie) Matis of Susquehanna, PA sang her way into her eternal rest.  Frances was born in Susquehanna, PA on March 10, 1923, the daughter of Robert and Margaret O'Connell Walker.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael J. Matis; son, Mark Matis; and brother, James Warren Walker.  Surviving relatives include two sons, Joseph (Kathryn) Matis and Matt Matis both of Susquehanna and two daughters, Margaret (John) Pitsko of Nazareth, PA and Elizabeth (Terry) Tingley of Susquehanna.  Frances had seven grandchildren, Julie (Dave) Beard, Ryan Pitsko, Leigh Pitsko, Michael (Liz) Matis, Regan Tingley, Jordan (Kirsten) Tingley, Ellen Matis and four great grandchildren, including Maura and Evan Beard and Lilliana and Matthew Matis. Frances is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Nicknamed Chickie by her father, Frances spent her early years growing up in the South in Alexandria, LA and later, on Dartmouth St. in Winnfield, LA.  Upon the sudden passing of her father, Frances and her family returned to the Susquehanna area to be close to her mother's family and friends.  Frances enjoyed being home, providing a home for her elderly mother, raising  five children and then babysitting for her grandchildren.  In earlier years, she enjoyed walking, gardening and swimming the length of Wrighter Lake in Thompson, PA.  She loved dark chocolate, good books, listening to talk radio, playing piano and song.

The family would like to give special thanks to Barnes Kasson Hospital doctors and staff for their care and compassion during Frances' short illness.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. John's Church, Jackson Ave, Susquehanna.

Arrangements were by the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 747  Jackson Ave, Susquehanna.
