Byron C. White

In loving memory of Byron C. White, “Whitey”, of Susquehanna, PA, December 10, 2015. Byron went to be with the lord after a valiant battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family members at his home when he went on to his next journey.

Byron was born on May 15, 1942, in Tunkhannock, PA son of the late Ralph and Lottie White.

Byron was very blessed, as he said, to have had a great life and loving family and lucky to have had two great women in his life. Byron is preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Mary (Glover) White. He is survived by his current loving wife, Patricia White who was loyally beside him.

Byron is survived by his loving children, David (Jackie) White, Kevin White, Brian White, Keith (Malenda) White, Kim (Dave) Kapler, Penny (Jim) Hoover, Nikki (Ray) Swanson, Bobbi Jo (Chad) Norris; his 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Melvin White, Marian Glover, Hazel (Bill) Durling.

Byron will always be thought of for his hunting trips, polka music and endless love for his family. If love could cure cancer, he would have won the battle.

He was a 50 year member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 794, a 50 year Lifetime Member of the Canawacta Rod & Gun Club and a member of the American Legion Post #86, all of Susquehanna.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, December 14, 2015, at 7:00 pm at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, with Pastor Kevin Setzer officiating.

Harriet Wheeler Potter

Harriet Wheeler Potter, 79, of Susquehanna, Pa., originally from Thompson, PA, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at the SNF unit at Barnes Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna, PA. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis R. Potter, Jr, her sister, Maxine Wheeler, and one son, Christopher E. Leonard.

Harriet is survived by her sister, Eleanor W. Krall of Concord, NC, her brother Rodney A. Coon of Denver, CO, two daughters, Terry Leonard of Binghamton, NY,  Bonnie (Leonard) George of State College, PA, her son Philip R. Leonard of York, PA, as well as stepchildren, James, Jerry, and Jeffrey Potter, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 11:00am at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA with Sean Leonard officiating.

Burial will be in the Ararat Cemetery, Ararat, PA

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10am to 11am.

Arthur (Art) Richard Walker

Arthur R. Walker, 81, of Susquehanna passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA.

He was born on December 30, 1934 in Susquehanna where he remained a lifelong resident.

Art joins in heaven his parents, David and Adah (Buchanan) Walker, a daughter Susan, and great-grandson, Jacob.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Beverly Ruth (Wiggins) Walker; children, Sandy and Richard Price, David and Alice Walker, Darlene and George Troup, Ann-Marie and Jerry Belotti; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Milton Woodruff; 3 nieces, a nephew and their families; Wendy and Bill Madison and their children. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whom he adored spending time with and spoiling.

In his younger years, Art enjoyed racing stock cars at Penn Can Speedway. He was known for his annual chicken barbeques in the summer and snow mobile riding with his children in the winter. At 81 he still enjoyed riding four wheelers and was an avid hunter, always looking forward to “bagging the big buck or bear.”

He worked at Eureka Tent and Phillips Foundry before starting Walker and Son Garbage Service, which he has operated for 54 years.

Art will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A Funeral Service was held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA with Kathleen Ackley officiating.

Interment will be held in the Starrucca Cemetery, Starrucca, PA.

The family wishes to thank the EMT’s, life flight crew, doctors and nurses from Geisinger CMC for the care given.
