Air Force Airman Joseph B. McLean graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

McLean is the son of Thomas and Deborah McLean and brother of Jacob McLean, all of Uniondale, Pa. He is also the brother of Matthew Hodgins and husband of Jamie McLean.

The airman graduated in 2012 from Mountain View High School, Kingsley, Pa.

Friend is the daughter of Julie D. Friend of New Milford, Conn., sister of Jon Crawford of Delaware, Ohio, and the granddaughter of William P. Davis of Montrose, Pa., and Edgar V. Friend of Zanesville, Ohio.

She is a 2014 graduate of Olentangy High School, Lewis Center, Ohio.
