County PASR Meets

The Susquehanna Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees ( PASR ) held its summer meeting on Tuesday, June 16,  at the Susquehanna County Library, Montrose PA. President Robert McNamara introduced Susan Stone, Administrator/ Librarian, who presented an interesting and informative program about the Susquehanna County Library. Members were given guided tours of all 3 floors of the facility. It was certainly evident that the facility has outgrown its space. Earlier that day, several members were in attendance at the ground breaking ceremony for the new library.

Following the tour President McNamara conducted the business meeting, which included a $100 donation to the Libraries “ Babies and Books” program and also a $100 donation for the Building Fund raffle.

A $900 donation was accepted by the Chapter to be used over the next 6 years for additional K-12 grants to the six county school districts. The Chapter will also continue $300 teacher grants, starting in 2016 and continuing for six years.

Mrs. Ellen Holdredge, Educational Support Chair, was presented with a Letter of Commendation, from the State PASR Board of Directors, acknowledging her many contributions to the Chapter.

Our third annual “ I Don’t Have to go Back to School “ picnic will be held  at Salt Springs State Park on August 27. All retired school employees are invited, contact Pres. Robert McNamara, at 570-756-2612,  for more details.

Pet Of The Week

Mudflap

Shorties view the the world from a different perspective.  Mudflap views everyone as a possible new family member.  He is super active and needs a special home.  He can't navigate on cement or shiny floors very well due to his short legs and would do best with a fenced in grassy yard.  He also needs lots of attention so should be the only pet in the household.  He does play rough but is friendly with people.  Older children would be fine.  We are still looking for venders for Woofstock.  Contact Dory at 570-396-6011 or e-mail us at petstruefriends@gmail.com.  Also, please try to support the Super Hero 5K Run/Walk & Kids Field Day in memory of Matthew Stahl.  Proceeds benefit True Friends.  It is June 27th at MAHS.  Check in/registration 9:15am.  More info at www.MWSRaceTeam.org.  Come on out!  Matthew was a special boy and loved animals.
