Township Bridges To Be Replaced
Submitted by PennDOT
The Public-Private Partnership (P3) project to rebuild 558 bridges all across Pennsylvania will get under way soon in two Susquehanna County townships, with an anticipated start the week of July 6.
In Clifford Township, drivers will see the Creamery Road (SR 2008) bridge closed where it crosses Dundaff Creek. The bridge was originally built in 1951 and averages 117 vehicles a day. Once the closure occurs all Creamery Road traffic will detour to Hickory Ridge Road (SR 1002), to SR 1013 / SR 2012 and PA 106. The detour will be in place until late August.
In Thompson Township, drivers will see the Bear Swamp Road (SR 1007) bridge closed where it crosses South Branch Canawachta Creek. This bridge was originally built in 1958 and averages 54 vehicles a day. Once the closure occurs all Bear Swamp Road traffic will detour to Layton Hill Road (SR 171), then to Church Lake Road (SR 1004). This detour will also be in place until late August.
Signs alerting drivers to the coming closures have already been posted at both locations. These are the first of three bridges to be replaced in Susquehanna County this year. Another nine will be replaced in 2016 and 2017.
The bridge replacements are part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP) under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years. As part of PWKP, Walsh/Granite JV will oversee construction. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.

Rep. Tina Pickett Announces Hours
Residents of Sullivan and Susquehanna counties are invited to stop by the satellite offices of Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) during special hours in July.
“These locations are especially set up so that residents of Susquehanna and Sullivan counties have more convenient access to my office and to state government,” Pickett said. “With everyone’s schedules as busy as ever, we want to put people in touch with appropriate state agencies to solve their problems, or to answer their questions about hot topics in Harrisburg. We are here to help.”
Staff will be available in Susquehanna County at Heft’s Buy and Sell in Lawton, from 10 a.m. to noon on the second Wednesday, July 8.
Pickett also reported that the special veterans assistance hours, normally on the third Thursday of the month in Sayre, are also canceled due to the Senior Expo. Veterans are encouraged to stop by that event for more general information about benefits, services, etc.
