The Susquehanna County Conservation District will be holding a Heavy Equipment Contractor Workshop on March 13th, 2015 at the Montrose Bible Conference’s Dreyer Hall in Montrose. The workshop begins with breakfast and registration at 7:30 a.m. and concludes at noon with door prizes.
This year’s speakers include Mike Sames, Engineering Field Representative with the North East Regional offices at DEP who will give a speech on Pond Dredging, Chad Mckendrick with PA Fish and Boat to talk about rules and regulations regarding work in and around streams and wetlands, Dean Auchenbach with DEP Central Office to give an update on 102 regulations and how to manage erosion on site and finally Eric Nevel from Dirt and Gravel Roads to talk about aggregates and how they are used.
The District hopes all heavy equipment contractors will be able to attend this informative workshop. Registration is due by February 27, 2015. For more information please contact the District at 278-4600 ext. 280.
Did you know that all farms generating/using manure must now have a manure management plan? The Susquehanna County Conservation District can help you learn the new regulations and write your plan. A half-day workshop will be held on Fridays, March 20th and 27th at 5:00 PM and Saturday, March 21st at 12:00 PM. A full-day workshop will also be offered on Saturday, March 28th at 9:00 AM; at this event you will leave with a completed plan. You choose one date you would like to attend.
Topics covered by the workshop will include the revised Manure Management Manual, Chapter 102 (Erosion and Sediment Control) updates, and using PAOneStop for your Manure Management Plan. Attendees will receive a copy of the updated Manure Management Manual. One-on-one assistance will be available in order for attendees to leave the workshop with a completed Manure Management Plan for their farm.
Light refreshments will be served at half-day events and lunch at the full day event. Registration for these events is free but required by March 13th.
