The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains extends congratulations to the sixty seven students who will receive tuition assistance from college scholarships that are administered by The Foundation. More than $82,000 will be provided to graduates from ten High Schools in Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties. Furthermore, The Community Foundation’s participation in the Pennsylvania PATH program will allow students who matriculate at Pennsylvania colleges to be nominated for potential matching funding. The Community Foundation thanks the donors who have established these permanent scholarships and wishes good luck to all the scholarship recipients on the next phase of their education. Two graduating seniors were selected to receive the 2nd Annual Susquehanna County Democrat Committee Award.
Students were selected from the six High Schools within Susquehanna County. The award was based on community Involvement/volunteer projects, school (extra-curricular) clubs and activities, course content, and their future endeavors.

Presentation of the two $500 awards was given by Robert McNamara, Chairman of the Susquehanna Democrat Party at each student’s home school district.
The Resident of the Month of June, at the Forest City Nursing and Rehab Center is JoAnn Clemo. JoAnn was born on March 13, 1947 to Carl and Eleanor Gallinot of Carbondale. She is one of five children; she has four brothers. Joann attended Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and after graduation worked in a local dress factory. Later she became a caretaker at Allied Services and devoted 16 years to caring for others, a job she really loved.

JoAnn is the mother of seven wonderful children, Genell, JoAnn, Jeanette, Karinna, Vince, Scott, and Ricky. She is a grandmother to 12 beautiful grandchildren. She also has an adorable black Labrador named Buddy. She is a member of St Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale.
In the past, Joann loved trips to Atlantic City, and shopping. She also liked to dance and line dancing was her favorite. Today she still enjoys listening to Country music and Elvis. She is known for her beautiful flower garden and crafts. She is a fan of the soap operas and enjoys playing Bingo and Yahtzee. There will be a party at the facility in JoAnn’s honor on June 16 at 2pm with music by Jay Best.
