ROBERT F. CURLEY

Robert F. Curley, 73, of Gibson, PA passed away on May 28, 2014.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Barbara.  Bob was predeceased by son, Richard Curley in 1971.

Bob is survived by a son, Matthew Curley, Gilbert, AZ; a sister, Kathy; a brother-in-law, Richard Morisette; and several nieces and nephews. 

Prior to his retirement, Bob worked as a computer technician with the University of Scranton and before that for the University of Pennsylvania.  He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.  Bob often helped other people with their computer troubles as well as working on websites for the DA and several area churches.  He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Jackson, PA.  Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to St. Joseph’s Center, 210 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509.

ROBERTA J. FELTON

Roberta J. Felton, 70, of Hallstead, PA entered into rest on May 24, 2014.  She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Rexford “Tarz” Felton.  Roberta was predeceased by an infant daughter, Bonnie Lynn Wayman.  Bobbi is also survived by three children, Dennis Wayman, Diane Jagannath, and Barbara and Ivan Westcott; two step children, Rexford Felton and Candice and Ronald Hanyon; a brother, Kenneth and Barbara Glover; two sisters, Ellie Burns and Penelope Cokely; and several nieces and nephews.  Bobbi was addicted to yard sales.  She enjoyed looking for a good bargain.  Bobbi listened to the “real” country music.  She was an excellent wife and mother.  Bobbi loved her family dearly and would sacrifice for them.  She was proud of each of her children.  Bobbi would go fishing with Tarz as much as she could.  She was contented with her life.  A funeral service was held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc. Hallstead, PA.

Joseph P. Gallagher, Jr.

Joseph Patrick Gallagher, Jr., South Montrose, PA, born on May 14, 1956 at Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, NM passed away on May 26, 2014 at Geisinger Hospital Wyoming Valley, Wilkes Barre, PA. 

He graduated from Susquehanna Community High School where he was known as “Cocomo Joe” on the basketball court.  He then entered the U.S. Coast Guard serving his country for 20 years.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Patrick Gallagher, Sr., step-father, George Marshman, and maternal and fraternal grandparents.  He is survived by his wife, Olga Gallagher, son, Darren Melovidov, mother, Joyce Marshman, sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Allen Hibbard, brother and sister-in-law, Fredrick and Susan Gallagher, nephew, Sean Fenescey, great nieces, Brittney and Stephanie Fenescey, and great nephew Cody Fenescey.

Joe was a well-known cook at the Stables Restaurant for 14 years.  He loved his hunting and fishing.  Boy could he tell some good stories.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 154, Montrose, PA and the Sons of the VFW Post 6223, Great Bend, PA.  He also loved his Steelers football team and Duke University basketball.

A Veteran Graveside Memorial Service was held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.

Jean D. Hilton

Jean D. Hilton of Ithaca, NY, 92, passed away on May 13, 2014. She was born August 9, 1921, in Birchardville, PA. Named Eleanor Jean, she was the daughter of Russell and Mildred (Stockholm) Dayton. She moved with her parents to Dimock, PA in 1923, graduated from high school there, and attended Syracuse University. In 1942 Jean married Walter C. Hilton in Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University. They lived in Montrose, PA, until 1972 when they moved to Cortland, NY. After retirement, they resided in Winter Haven, FL. In 2000 Jean was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, and she moved to Ithaca, NY.

Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montrose where she served as a Deacon. She was employed by two agencies of the US Department of Agriculture from 1961 through 1983. Her career began with the Susquehanna County (PA) Soil Conservation Service. Then she worked from 1965 through 1983 for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, first in Susquehanna County (PA) and later in Cortland County (NY). For her commitment to agency improvement as a Program Assistant Instructor, Jean was awarded an Exemplary Service Award in 1979. For the last three years, she was an active member of the Longview retirement community in Ithaca, NY.

Jean was devoted to her family, and she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Deborah Hilton, Richmond, TX; and Ronald and Margaret Hilton, Ithaca, NY. Other survivors are grandchildren: Kristin (Hilton) Massa, Sugar Land, TX; Scott Hilton and his wife, Kathleen, Mechanicsburg, PA; Timothy Hilton and his wife, Kerry, San Mateo, CA; and Bradley Hilton, Boulder, CO. Great grandchildren are: Riley, John, and Joseph Hilton, Mechanicsburg, PA; and Liliana Hilton, San Mateo, CA.

Services will be held in the summer in Montrose, PA at the family’s convenience. Interment will be in the Montrose Cemetery.
