Irma L. Crissell

Irma L. Crissell, 86, of 476 Washington Street Susquehanna, Pa. passed away Friday April 25, 2014.

She was born on February 28, 1928 in Johnson City, NY to the late Jenny VanVleck and Dominic Musa.

Irma is predeceased by her husband James F. Crissell, two daughters Cynthia Lee and Darlene Sholtiss, five sisters Jesse Shaffer, Mary Hurlbert, Nellie Vincent, Francis Knifer and Edith Tingley; two brothers Albert Kiefer and Frank Musa.

Irma is survived by seven daughters Sylvia (Steve) Hodges, Jennifer Groover, Denise Gates, Wendy (Alton) Wahl, Heidi (Bob) Lesko, Tammy Lee, Tonya Crissell, Twenty Grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; sister Florance Hoover; brother Bobby Kiefer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 3, 2014 at 3pm at the Cascade Valley Church. A dinner will follow after the memorial service at the Little School House down the road from the Church.

Irma was known for her whistling and kindness and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Dr. B. Patel and Dr. Shell of Barnes Kasson Hospital and the nurses on 2nd floor and ICU for the wonderful care they gave to Irma.

Walter S.  Kurek

Walter Kurek, 91, of Campsite Road, Thompson, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Barnes Kasson SNF in Susquehanna, PA, after an illness.

Walter was born in Carteret, NJ, on June 27 1922, to the late Joseph and Mary Kurek.

He was predeceased by his companion Ann Nazar.

Walter was born and raised in Carteret, NJ, and then moved to Campsite Road, Thompson, PA after his retirement. He served in the United States Army, as an Engineer during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post #86, Susquehanna. Walter will be dearly missed by all of his friends and neighbors.

A funeral service was held at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, on Saturday, April 26, 2014, with Rev. David Cramer officiating.

Burial will be held in the Thompson Cemetery, Thompson, PA.
