The following local students have been awarded scholarships to attend Alvernia University this fall:

Micaela Rhone, of Starrucca, Pa., has been granted the $16,000 Presidential Scholarship to study Occupational Therapy at Alvernia University. Micaela is a senior at Susquehanna Community High School.

Alexis Roe, of Susquehanna, Pa., has been granted the $14,000 Trustees' Scholarship to study at Alvernia University. Alexis is a senior at Susquehanna Community High School.

Michaela Gates, a member of the class of 2016 from Union Dale, has been named to the fall 2013 Dean's List at Loyola University Maryland.

In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.
