Dylan Reed Makes LVC Dean's List

Dylan D. Reed of Montrose, Pa., was named to the spring 2013 dean's list at Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Pa., while in pursuit of a bachelor of arts in history and political science. Dean's list students must maintain a grade point average of 3.4 or above on a 4-point scale.

Reed graduated from Montrose Area Junior-Senior High School.

Gordon Phillips Makes G.C. Dean's List

Gordon Phillips, a junior Molecular Biology major at Grove City College, has been named to the Dean's List with High Distinction for the spring 2013 semester. Gordon is a 2010 graduate of Baptist Regional School and is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Gordon Phillips, III (Laurie) from Susquehanna, PA.

Local Residents Graduate U Of S

The University of Scranton conferred 1,735 degrees – the largest number of degrees in its history – at two commencement ceremonies the weekend of June 1-2, 2013, including more than 900 bachelor's and associate degrees at its undergraduate commencement on May 26 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre. Graduates included recipients of some of the nation's most prestigious scholarships, including the Truman Scholarship, Goldwater Scholarship and five Fulbright scholarships.

Local graduates earning undergraduate degrees include the following:

Craig A. Noldy of Forest City earned a Bachelor of Science in forensic chemistry from The University of Scranton.

Nicholas B. Hollister of Montrose earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from The University of Scranton.

David J. Rechlicz of Montrose earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from The University of Scranton.

Sydney N. Carmody of Thompson earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from The University of Scranton.

Chelsea M. Lucchesi of Union Dale earned a Bachelor of Science in liberal studies from The University of Scranton.

Oral Reading Contest At BR Elementary

Blue Ridge Elementary held its annual Oral Reading Contest for grades three through five on Thursday, May 23rd and for grades one and two on Friday, May 24th. All contestants did a great job, and the audience enjoyed listening to their expressive voices. Hats off to all the readers for the courage and poise they showed on stage. It was an honor for you to be a reader for your grade level. Congratulations to all the participants and winners listed below. Blue Ridge Elementary is very proud of all of you.

Two Local Residents Graduate Millersville

The following area residents were among the 1,110 students who graduated from Millersville University of Pennsylvania during the spring 2013 undergraduate commencement ceremony held on Saturday, May 18 in Millersville's Biemesderfer Stadium at Chryst Field.

Miles Fischer, of Hallstead, PA, graduated earning a BSE degree in Social Studies History.

Jamie Hoffman, of Montrose, PA, graduated earning a BA degree in Geography.
