Esther Cobb

Esther Cobb, 83, of Forest Lake, died Friday morning at home. Her husband, of 52 years, Howard Cobb died in 2000.

Born January 8, 1930 in Susquehanna, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred Skinner Fisk. Esther graduated Oakland High School in 1948. She loved sewing and teaching Sunday School. Most of all, she loved being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivng are two daughters Sharon Cobb, Allentown; and Sandra and husband Russell Cordner, Forest Lake; two sons William and wife Bonnlyn Cobb, Myrtle Beach, SC; and Calvin and wife Patricia Cobb, Thompson; a sister Mary Ficarro, two brothers Robert and Floyd Fisk, all of Susquehanna. 8 grandchildren, Cynthia, Caroline, Russell, Jason, Michelle, Anthony, Kelly, and Matthew; 8 great grandchildren; & several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters Lucille, Louella, and Alice and a brother Walter.

Funeral was held Tuesday, June 11th at 11am in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, Interment in East Ararat Cemetery.

EDGAR LEE HARDEN

Edgar Lee Harden, 77, of Great Bend, PA went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ione.

Also surviving are three daughters, Karlene Hobbs, Denver, CO, Ruth Harden, Great Bend, PA, and Tracey and Thomas Swartz, Thompson, PA; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Setzer, Denver CO, Robert Setzer, Kirkwood, NY, Samantha and Matthew Currey, Pennellville, NY, Sarah Smith, Stephanie Smith, both of Great Bend, PA, and Martin and Kimberly Swartz, Thompson, PA; 3 great grandchildren, Hailey Setzer, Colby Setzer, and Jayden Smith; 2 brothers, Kale Harden, and Donald Karl Harden; a sister, Ella Joyce Rossi; a sister-in-law, Loretta Harden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Prior to his retirement, Ed was employed with Columbian Financial Group. He also worked for the Susquehanna County Court House-Security Division and a former policeman for the Great Bend-Hallstead-New Milford Police Department. Ed served with the US Air Force. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #357.

At his request, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Great Bend/Hallstead Volunteer Ambulance, P.O. Box 793, Great Bend, PA 18821 or the Great Bend Hose Co. No. 1., P.O. Stevan John Roman

Stevan John Roman, 76, of New Milford, PA passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, June 2, 2013 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born December 26, 1936 in Lublin, Poland, he was the son of the late Jospeh and Lydia [Büttner] Roman.

He enjoyed a long career at IBM, retiring in 1993.

He attended Kingsley United Methodist Church, was a board member for the Blue Ridge School District for many years and also volunteered for the Columbia Hose Company in earlier years.

Stevan loved being outdoors hunting, taking care of his farm animals and working on vehicles. He enjoyed traveling with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth [Wilmarth] Roman of New Milford, PA, daughters & son-in-law, Julia & Michael Casey of Archbald, PA, Amanda Roman of New Milford, PA, sons & daughters-in-law, John & Meredith Roman of Chelmsford, MA, David & Rozlynn Roman of North Huntington, PA, grandchildren, Justin, Craig, Grace, Henry & Gwendolyn, sister, Elizabeth Dougherty of Romulus, NY, special nephew, Paul Roman of Meshoppen, PA, several nieces & nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his grandson, Jacob Roman, brothers, Paul, Edward & Daniel and a sister, Anna.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at the Kingsley United Methodist Church, Kinglsey, PA. Visitation: 2-4PM on Wednesday, June 5, at the Bartrom-Myer Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.

Ernest Richard “Ernie” Schumann Sr.

Ernest R. Schumann Sr., of Susquehanna, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Barnes Kasson Hospital. He was born on August 20, 1931 in Morrisville, PA. and was a lifelong resident of Trenton, NJ, who moved to Susquehanna, PA in 2006 where he resided with his loving son Douglas and dog Shadow for the past seven years.

Ernie was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years Joan I. (Leinheiser) Schumann; one son Richard Schumann of Yardville, NJ; and grandson Richard “Ricky” Schumann.

He is survived by his four sons and one daughter-in-law, Ernest R. Schumann, Jr. and Bruce D. Schumann of Bordentown, NJ, Timothy Schumann of Burlington, NJ, Douglas J. Schumann of Susquehanna, PA, and Betsy L. Chianese-Schumann of Florence NJ; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary and Walt Arkus of Hamilton Twp. NJ, and Lois Anderson of Morrisville, PA; two grandsons Ernest R. Schumann, Jr., III, of Bordentown NJ, and Douglas J. Schumann, Jr. of Trenton, NJ; two granddaughters Stacy A. Schumann of Florence, NJ, and Olivia J. Schumann of Burlington, NJ; two great granddaughters and one great grandson, Alyssa L. Crusen and Peyton R. Wingerter both of Florence NJ, and Chase R. Schumann of Aston, MD; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.

Ernie was a highly decorated US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War in the 2nd Infantry Division from 1948 to 1951. He was a member of the Local 31 Union for over 50 years, as a retired carpenter. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 86 of Susquehanna, PA. Ernie loved nature, fishing, outdoors and his beloved dog Shadow.

A memorial service will be held in Susquehanna, PA at a future date.
