Mr. Brian Woodruff’s Blue Ridge Elementary School Second Grade recently completed their A Trip Around the World project. This project is part of a social studies unit in which students learn about the many different places they live on earth; continent, country, state, county, city/town, etc.

In addition to the lessons in the unit, each student chose one country in the world to research. They used text and online resources to gather information about their country.
Some topics of focus were location, size, population, language, weather, sports, food, plants, animals, and trade. Authors worked to research, draft, revise, edit, write and illustrate a final copy in a hardcover book. These books were shared at Open House on May 9th and the authors will also be taking time to share what they’ve learned with their classmates.
