Walter “Herbie” Whitmore

Walter “Herbie” Whitmore, 76, of Windsor, NY went to be with our Lord on Friday March 29, 2013 after an illness.

Walt lived an extraordinary life. Born in Binghamton, NY on April 14, 1936, he served us in Korea as a 101st Airborne Army Paratrooper, he raced cars, he worked the Alaskan pipeline and he was a fearless entrepreneur and high roller with a generous gentle soul. He loved God, his family, his country and animals of all kind. His biggest joy was playing with the grandkids as a “forever big kid” himself.

“In spite of all the funeral songs, the birds will make their joyful sounds. You’ll wonder why the Earth still moves. You’ll wonder how you’ll carry on.”

He is survived by: Dee Whitmore, his wife of 37 years, two sisters Berta and Peggy and one brother Tommy; daughters Hadassah and Delilah; sons Walter Jr. “Dusty”, Chester and John; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Monday April 1st at 11:00am at the Lakeview Cemetery in Jackson Township with Pastor Dan Little officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Landmark Church 126 Court Street Binghamton, NY 13901.

“Just give it time We’ll both be fine when I’m gone.”
